"donaghy, you play the matador."

Yesterday, much to my surprise while I was eating breakfast, THE EMMY NOMINEES FOR 2009 WERE ANNOUNCED OMFGZ. actually I'm never on top of this shit until it comes out. and then. lo and behold. (which is my phrase of the week)

"30 Rock" is the frontrunner for the comedies, with 22 nominations altogether. AND THAT'S DAMN RIGHT. there's no other show on television I care about as much as this show. it's hilarious. forget "The Office," which seems so stale now (I liked it in high school, then I stopped watching, EVERYBODY BEGAN TO WATCH, I saw an episode a while ago and it was terrible).

proof of why "30 Rock" is probably the most intelligent sitcom to come about in since um forever, barring "Arrested Development" and "Frasier":

Tina Fey, of course, being god (and my doppleganger), was nominated. But my affections are torn this time, seeing as THE BIG S WAS ALSO NOMINATED.

There were a lot of surprises and a lot more nominees this year. "Family Guy" got a nod, but I'm not much of a "Family Guy" fan. More of a "Simpsons" girl.

The always lovely Christina Applegate, star of my late guilty pleasure "Samantha Who," also was nominated in the best actress category. I still don't get why they canceled that, but then again they did cancel "Pushing Daisies."

There's a variety category this year, with "SNL" getting a nomination in that. Um, "SNL" kind of sucks anymore.

In the drama division, AMC's "Mad Men" took the most nods. "Mad Men" looks like such a good, stylish show, and I WISH I COULD REMEMBER TO WATCH IT. it'd probably just make me want to drink martinis and listen to Frank Sinatra (whom I have a deep-seated grudge against). Then, there are the ones for "House MD" and "Dexter" and blah blah blah.

"Grey Gardens" seemed to get a lot of nods for made-for-TV movie (as did some select Lifetime films). "Grey Gardens" should get those awards- it was a damn fine movie, probably Drew Barrymore's best work to date. The real fight there would be between her and Lange, both up for the same award.

"True Blood" was shut-out, interestingly. That's another show I need to see....BUT WAIT I CAN'T BECAUSE MY HBO IS GONE. the tragedies of my existence, I tell you.

well, in the mean time. place your bets and get caught up on summer reruns! The Emmys will air their 61st (has TV even existed that long????) ceremony on September 20th on CBS at 8 p.m.

I WILL BE BACK WITH MUCH MORE FOLLOWING WORK. UGH BASEMENTS IT'S GONNA RAIN TOO :(

factoid: Michael Jackson? big "30 Rock" fan.

  1. 1. a valentine's day episode of 30 rock was on last night, and I was shocked: it was fairly raunchy. my dad wasn't paying attention, then looked up and said, '...dressed as a ninja?' MOST AWKWARD MOMENT EVER COMING UP - 'Uhh...he and his wife do role-playing.' I turned beat red. My dad went back to reading the paper.

    2. you can come watch my HBO any time you want! that I am free! and that you are free! wait, that's almost never. my offer still stands.

    3. nice to have you back, I must say.

"Mon Soleil" - Ashley Park

If there's anything people take away from my piss-poor legacy, I hope it's what a huge, unabashed fan of "Emily in Paris" I am and will continue to be. People love "90 Day Fiancee," "The Bachelor," and other garbage - allow me "Emily," which is at least harmless, kind of goofy fluff (which does, unfortunately, lean into some stereotypes, as the country of Ukraine knows ). I have already watched Season 2 twice. And honestly my favorite part of this show (despite my crush on Camille Razart and Lily Collins channeling Audrey Hepburn hardcore ) is Ashley Park. This woman has superstar written all over her. She's a bona fide Broadway star, and "Emily in Paris" has served as her pivot into the zeitgeist.  "Emily in Paris" is also showcasing her vocal prowess front and center this season, with her covering BTS, "All By Myself," "Sympathtique," and Marilyn Monroe. But the real standout performance is th

Appropriate Holiday Gift Ideas for the Single Lady

While some people may see it as a drag, there are plenty of benefits to being single during the holiday season. During this time of the year, there are tons of parties you can attend that you may not have had the opportunity to if you were in a relationship. There’s also not as much stress on you as a single gal during the holidays because you don’t have to shop for your partner and extended family members  or  stress over where to eat Christmas dinner.  Not everyone sees the bright side of being fancy free during the holidays, and, tragically, they aren't afraid to let us single ladies know. Not only are single women subjected to even more harassment and ridicule during the holiday season, they’re also given the most obnoxious gifts by those who can’t comprehend how anyone can be both happy and single. Whether it’s a self-help book (desperately) trying to reinforce how great is to be single or the gift of a year-long subscription to Match.com , single women are presented with

Give JR a Break

Recently, I've been reading some sites that have criticized James Roday, the lead actor on the USA show PSYCH for an apparent weight gain. But you know what? Who gives a flying fizzle stick if James Roday is slightly larger than he was 4 years ago. Apparently, it wasn't enough to scare away his current girlfriend/ co-star Maggie Lawson. (Who is one hell of a Catch!) And NO they are not engaged. That seems to be nothing more than a rumor, but there is a very high chance of it happening in the near future. Anyway, as long as PSYCH continues to entertain I don't mind about James Roday's waist. He, and Dule Hill, and Corbin Bernson too, can eat all the fried broccoli they want. The last episode of PSYCH wasn't so smashing, but I don't blame it on dietary issues. QATFYG: Are you keeping up with Psych? And who is hotter, James Roday or Maggie Lawson? (Trick Question but idk why) PS: If you have heard any more news on Roday and Lawson becoming Roday-Lawson, send it
