Question: do these movies look like they will suck?
Exhibit A:
Leap Year, starring the adorable Amy Adams and an Irish-seeming, rugged-seeming Matthew Fox (last seen in the aforementioned ((go into archives)) A Single Man.
CHECK IT OUT
Prediction: will it suck? likely! it's too formulaic and Amy Adams, despite being a wonderfully gifted actress, falls into the trap of too-vanilla roles. if this ends up being false, if it ends up being that rare charmer of a predictable romantic comedy that will win over fans and critics alike, I will eat my boots.
Exhibit B:
Valentine's Day, which follows the lives of several couples in L.A. as they celebrate, well, you know. These couples include Bradley Cooper, Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Topher Grace, Taylor Lautner, Taylor Swift, Shirley Macclaine, Jessica Alba, Ashton Kutcher, Patrick Dempsey, Jennifer Garner, Jamie Foxx, ... the list goes on. I saw someone peg it as the American equivalent of Love Actually and it seems to be on that path!
Prediction: will it suck? no, it looks like it might come off as corny and dumb at times, but I think the over-arching theme and gifted cast should save it. unless something goes horribly, horribly wrong. like the Taylor x Taylor relationship. tear.

Leap Year looks horrible. I'd expect more from Amy Adams. It looks shallow and predictable.
ReplyDeleteAt least Valentines Day has a shit-ton of celebs to laugh at (not with) during the movie. [I'm talking about the Taylors]
VD looks like it will be awful/I WANT TO SEE LOTS OF PRETTY PEOPLE LOOK PRETTY!!
ReplyDeletewell maybe taylor L will be shirtless for most of his time.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, Emma Roberts will be a prick in this one too. You go girl!! Sigh.
I say this be our VD Day date, Cara. you, me, Anne Hathaway. Arbor Mist. cunninglingus.
ReplyDeletethink about it
I think Valentine's Day will be a good film. It seems like it is trying to balance humor in new ways; however, the film is using the now popular vignette compilation format.
