On Consol Events and Other Random Stuff

The outbound Fort Pitt Tunnel is closed. Please plan accordingly. Or better yet, just don’t go downtown this weekend. Detours, traffic, angry drivers…


Consol Energy Center is prepped to open soon! The kick-off event is Paul McCartney August 18th & 19th. If one-fourth of the Beatles isn’t your style, other events might catch your eye:

Lady Gaga - September 5th

Nickelback with Three Days Grace & Buckcherry - September 17th

PENS VS. RED WINGS - September 22nd (Good luck getting tickets to this. Better keep listening to the radio and hope someone is giving tickets away.)

Chelsea Handler - December 4th

Justin Bieber - December 13th

Ok, so there are a lot of gaps in the calendar, but those gaps are filled with hockey because, well, Consol Energy Center was built for hockey. Hockey in Pittsburgh is good, and it would seem that Consol is going to deliver.

Pittsburgh Magazine is hosting the 3rd annual Best of the ‘Burgh Party on September 16th. Tickets go one sale August 9th. Surprisingly, this event does not look exciting. Spending an evening on a boat? Not for me. I’m disappointed that Pittsburgh didn’t disclose anything happening on the boat.


It looks like CMU starts classes August 23rd and Pitt opted for August 30th. Interesting choices, if you ask me. I always preferred to start classes early. There’s nothing like a full month for winter break and being done for the year by the first weekend in May. Avoid I-79 and Oakland the weekends before these dates. Also, avoid going out the Thursdays following these dates; I’m sure there will be a lot of catching up among students and I’m positive they are thirsty.


Ok, I’m going to listen to Taylor Swift and be happy. Is it just me or does she always sound a little breathy? Doesn’t matter. Still think she’s great.

Give JR a Break

Recently, I've been reading some sites that have criticized James Roday, the lead actor on the USA show PSYCH for an apparent weight gain. But you know what? Who gives a flying fizzle stick if James Roday is slightly larger than he was 4 years ago. Apparently, it wasn't enough to scare away his current girlfriend/ co-star Maggie Lawson. (Who is one hell of a Catch!) And NO they are not engaged. That seems to be nothing more than a rumor, but there is a very high chance of it happening in the near future. Anyway, as long as PSYCH continues to entertain I don't mind about James Roday's waist. He, and Dule Hill, and Corbin Bernson too, can eat all the fried broccoli they want. The last episode of PSYCH wasn't so smashing, but I don't blame it on dietary issues. QATFYG: Are you keeping up with Psych? And who is hotter, James Roday or Maggie Lawson?
