The Useless Critic 2.0

Remember my best of 2011 posts? ME TOO.  ... anyway, before this year is all but a bad and blurry memory, I want to share with you two songs I really appreciated from 2011. And before we get any farther, what's with Enrique Iglesias actually making decent dance music now? What gives, weird world? First of all, Jennifer Lopez had a surprisingly strong/decent comeback this year. which you wouldn't think but there you go. it happened. well, she did drop ratboy, so. everytime my bff and I went to the gay bar, I swear this played. gays love J.LO idk and also, THIS gem, which I am SO ASHAMED of forgetting: LOVE HURTS, WHETHER IT'S RIGHT OR WRONG this song was how I chose to greet 2011. sufficient to say, it was, um. apt.  what what what what the hell

MUSIC:   20.) EDGE OF GLORY – LADY GAGA why: it's like a glorified 1980s ballad. forget all the showmanship- there's something very authentic to this song. I think it really proves her as a musician, which is easy to lose sight of in all that bombast.   19.) NIGHTLIGHT- LITTLE DRAGON I love the beginning of this. it's very funky. Little Dragon, they are growing on me so fast. so hot and so Swedish. ughngngngn LISTEN 18.) MOST WANTED- CULTS feels so old-fashioned and so quaint. are these two huge stoners or what? probably. keep your eye peeled to these NYU kids...your one, big, eye.  17.) S&M- RIHANNA no I don't care if it came out in 2010. I love it. NANANA COME ON 16.) YOU ARE A TOURIST- DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE upbeat and catchy, here we see Ben Gibbard and co in a good mood. post-Zooey....very despondent album to follow? blah blah blah I'm not listening.
