A Review of the "Mother's Day" Trailer

Image
There are many things I regret spending time on in my 27 years of life: - Playing "The Sims" so much and setting up ungodly scenarios for my characters. - Writing "Frasier" fanfiction as a young girl (I married Niles btw, I guess in some other world, we have several kids by now. Happy birthday, David Hyde Pierce, love of my early childhood!) - Most of the things I posted on Livejournal as a petulant teenager. But among the things I regret is watching the "Mother's Day" trailer. Holy crap. Why did I do that to myself? I might as well have watched a candid interview with Gwyneth Paltrow about her lifestyle. It would have had the same effect. Frickin' Gwyneth Paltrow. That's another can of worms for some other Sunday.   So I listen to a lot of Ted talks and Super Soul Sundays when I work or am at home. I find them really comforting. I'm also probably 40 when I'm not busy being 15 again.   And sometimes, I get these ads o...

And That "Nymphomaniac" Trailer Was-

It just was. Um, I think there are two ways we portray sex. One is very clinical and no-frills, i.e. like porn and science. It's just an act. The other is more romantic and loving. Honestly, I don't care for porn. I kind of want to see " Nymphomaniac " though. It's Lars Von Trier, he's a weird fascination for me.  P.S. The trailer is graphic . I have warned you.

Seeing "Gravity" Today

SANDRA BULLOCK: LOST IN SPACE. I have dreams about this. The Sandra Bullock part mostly. BTW, I saw "Don Jon" last weekend because I love  JGL and ScarJo. It can be graphic at points (and porn kinda grosses me out- even lesbian porn, to be honest, I don't think is that interesting) but it has a good heart. The ending comes as a surprise. SEE IT.

TRAILER WARZ: "Secret Life of Walter Mitty"

Image
Ben Stiller's upcoming movie (Christmas Day, so I guess not that upcoming) looks awesome. Actually, it looks awesome, but it could either be awesome or it could suck. Kristen Wiig stars in it as well. Take a look here:  I read the short story a long time ago, but this is most definitely an updated version!

Trailer Warz: Emma Watson, Seth Rogen, James Fucking Franco

They have all joined together for a movie that- daresay I- looks good! Seriously though, this kind of meta-comedy project is my wet dream. Plus, it's not "Spring Breakers."  AHHHH It just looks...ridiculously goofy. And I, being goofy, respect, enjoy and appreciate my own kind. But don't take my word for it, LeVar Burton!  Here it is: What do you think? I'd like to believe Rihanna survives the Biblical End of Days.

TRAILER WARZ: "The Heat"

Image
It looks funny, I'll give it that. Observe: Sandra Bullock seems to still have it. Whatever "it" is. Question: Do you think Melissa McCarthy risks being typecast?

TRAILER WARZ: "Oz, the Great and Powerful"

Image
If you are at all familiar with the "Oz" canon (and I don't mean the prison-based TV show) then you likely know that "The Wizard of Oz" wasn't the end-all be-all to the saga. And finally, one of these other chapters is coming to life with a cast that includes: - Rachel Weisz - James Franco (sigh) - Mila Kunis - Michelle Williams  It's a Disney production and it looks relatively good. And I hate to say this but I think James and Mila have some serious chemistry between them. Take a look: And lest we forget: ;) p.s. I met a relative of L. Frank Baum's on the Greyhound last week. I'll update you on that excursion when I feel better.

Trailer Warz: Little White Lies

I love foreign films but I feel this would be 10000 times more effective.... SHOULD I KNOW WHAT THEY ARE SAYING!!!! Oui? Anyway:  it appears interesting. This is the French Big Chill, supposedly.

So, about that Les Mis trailer

Image
Taking a break from Kristen Wiig week so I can just post about this delightful little trailer, which looks to be inspiring and heartwarming.  I'm very impressed by Anne Hathaway's singing chops here. Granted that those are them. Boy, I wonder why 19th century French peasants were so....MISERABLE! wah wah wah

Trailer Warz: The Great Gatsby!

Friends With Kids: the trailer

Image
This film looks like it has an ensemble cast of A-lister gold. And it's gotten rave reviews from places like the New York Times. And it hits a nerve sensitive for many young and middle-aged Americans:  the whole kid fiasco. Whatever your personal opinion on that can of worms is, it's clear:  this film does not look as good as it should be, judging SOLELY by this trailer! SOLELY! I mean, is that seriously Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig as a couple? ?!?! would you see this? for reals?

TRAILER TIIIIIIME

This time of year, I love nothing more than watching the movie trailers for all the movies that are a.) either coming out to make the Oscar cut or b.) coming out in 2012.  LET'S LOOK AT THE CURRENT CONTENDERS FOR THINGS THAT CAN KEEP MY INTEREST things that do not qualify: - pop-up books, albeit awesome - the hosts of the View CONTENDAH #1 "I coulda been someone. I coulda been a CONTENDAH." Shut up Marlon Brando yadda yadda OKAY. WE HAVE FIVE SECONDS OF MARION COTILLARD IN HERE. um, the Pittsburgh Steelers and maybe Anne Hathaway won't totally suck as Catwoman? she actually looks hot and scary and slutty. yay! but this doesn't come out until 2012. wah wah wah. damn you, Chris Nolan! I HATE YOU sooner.... have you seen the posters for this? SOME RAD CALLIGRAPHY GOING ON IN HERE. anyway, Meryl can do no wrong. she's probably not mortal.  somewhat weird... ERM...... I recently saw The Descendants  and it was very good....
