Annie's "Russian Kiss"

Image
"This may be difficult when the Olympic Games take place in Sochi in February. As we know, Vladimir Putin has introduced laws prohibiting gays and lesbians to show their love in public in Russia. Furthermore, it is prohibited to talk positively about homosexuality in public. This is the reason why an increasing number of leaders worldwide have decided to boycott this year’s Olympics." - RussianKiss.org I have been an Annie advocate from the beginning (well, 2007.) And, as if it was even possible, she just made herself all the cooler, all the more awesome and all the more deserving of your time/attention/respect. How? She just released the protest song "Russian Kiss," blasting Putin and the Russian LGBT policy. It's pretty hot for a protest song; I have to be honest with you. It features the artist Bjarne Melgaard and was directed by the Vice photographer Richard Kern. This track has been getting a TON of attention (coupled with the video)- everyone f...

Top 10 Reasons to Get Excited for the 2012 Olympics : #10 Nastia Liukin Commentary  Hello, and welcome to the Top 10 Reasons to Get Excited for the 2012 Olympics…Yes, this is just as important as it sounds. It turns out that Nastia Liukin did not make the Olympic team for a second time. ESPN reports that during her qualifier, the 2008 All Around Gymnastics Gold Medalist did nothing but fall flat.  This is a real shame considering I spent the entire 2008 Olympics masturbating to Nastia Liukin….now before you judge me on that, I was a lot younger back then…. ..........seriously….. ...........In other words, instead of participating as an athlete for this Olympics Nastia Liukin will serve as a supporter to the Girls’ gymnastics team and do some occasional commentary on the sport. That’s cool with me, as long as I get my moments…I mean, her moments. Fuck, I’m such a creep.  Anyway, I guess Women’s Gymnastics is the preferred sport of creeps like m...

Skiing Heat

Image
So there is some heated debate going on in the midst of the Olympics. US Skier, Julia Mancuso (two silver medals at 2010) has made a statement that US Gold Medalist, Lindsey Vonn is getting too much attention from the media. It has roused a debate as to who is actually better? But forget all that skiing stuff. QATFYG: Who is hotter? Julia Mancuso or Lindsey Vonn? Lindsey Vonn Julia Mancuso Personally, I'd go for some Julia M. She has more energy. Hey, Energy can be a turn on.

Vancouver

Nodar Kumaritashvili 1988-2010 Yesterday the ceremony of the Winter Olympics kicked off in Vancouver, and during the day the Olympics saw tragedy with the death of Georgian Luger, Nodar Kumaritashvili. The Georgian team, which only had 8 athletes before the tragedy looked so sad during the parade of athletes. Also, the Olympic flame sculpture malfunctioned during the ceremony, and there was a large awkward pause for technical difficulties. Some critics are already calling the Olympics a flop, and as for the ceremony it was almost impossible to top the performance of the Chinese in Beijing. Thank you Zhang Yimou (sp). Also, it was great too Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns as one of the final torch bearers. He is probably my favorite Caucasian athlete. I liked that there was a strong presence of the First Nations in the ceremony, as they are a great part of the Canadian country. The footage of Iqaluit on Baffin Island was really good to see, and the...

2010 winter olympics

so the day is closing upon us when we will have to deal with a squealing Kathy Lee Gifford talk about how much she simply adores winter sports and awkwardly hit on professional skiirs. That being said, the 2010 Winter Olympics, which are being held in Vancouver, will kick off on in early February. And THAT being said, do you care? ... I personally like bobsledding and speedskating. but I so long for snow-shovelling, facesitting and bodyshaving to be made into recognized sports. I think Denmark and Japan would succeed at the latter two. What say you, readers? You going to watch? Or merely facesit instead?

2016 Summer Olympics: An Editorial

Image
So by now I'm sure you've heard that the International Olympic Committee selected Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as the location for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, as well as the 2016 Summer Paralympics. Other finalists included Chicago, Tokyo, and Madrid. Going into the final voting, Chicago and Rio de Janeiro were thought to be the favorites. Chicago was summarily knocked out of the running in the first round. As a native Chicagoan (born, raised, and living here at the present time), I think I can safely speak for the vast majority of us: we're glad we didn't get it. There have been plenty of celebrities, athletes, and Very Important People (ranging from Barack and Michelle Obama to Oprah to Michaels Phelps) who have supported the nomination, but the common opinion has largely been that of ambivalence. The main issue is that of financing. From whence will the money come to pay for the Olympic Village (and stadiums, etc)? In part from private investors--who may not have the f...
