NICOLE! Bitches, I called it. Okay, to be honest my pre-show guess for final 2 was Jennifer/Nicole, with Jennifer taking it all, but WHATEVER! Close enough. The Nicole/Laura final 2 was ridiculous(ly good!), although I would've preferred a Nicole/Erin finale. I love Laura though - her reaction to losing was heartbreaking. And she has a great personality. Nicole absolutely deserved the win. I mean, okay, at 5'7" she's not exactly short, but she could be the textbook definition of "model." She can do both commercial and high fashion modeling, and she's stunning 99% of the time. Laura, however, is more of a commercial girl. Her face is stunning, but for modeling her body isn't quite all that, and her accent has the potential to limit her opportunities. Sad but true. What...

A Brief Foreword: I've been watching a number of LGBT-themed films and TV shows lately. I've decided to review them. So. Enjoy. The 2000 film "Big Eden," directed by Thomas Bezucha ("The Family Stone"), features Arye Gross as Henry Hart, a successful artist in New York City, who feels compelled to return to his Montana hometown of Big Eden when his grandfather (George Coe) has a stroke. In Big Eden he meets up with old friends and acquaintances, including his childhood best friend Dean (Tim DeKay), on whom Henry had - and still has - a crush. Dean is straight and newly single, with custody of his two children. But is he really all that straight? Another acquaintance is Pike (Eric Schweig), the overwhelmingly shy Native American owner of the town's general store, who just so happens to have a crush on Henry. The town's denizens - including Widow Thayer (Nan Smith) and a group of older men who spend the vast majority of their time at the general store ...

I've been to a number of drag shows in my day. Men dressed as women, women dressed as men, inebriated sexually ambiguous audience members dancing up on you, awkward situations in the bathrooms, ridiculously expensive alcoholic beverages... it's always a good time. As a result of my attendance at these festive events, I have a sick habit of hearing a song and thinking, "This would be PERFECT to do drag to." Unfortunately, I've never felt like shaving my legs (and my face), taping up Mr. Happy, pulling on a miniskirt and a pair of high-heels and dancing around on stage while lipsynching to "Girls Just Want To Have Fun." The long-awaited Season 6 of Project Runway finally premiered on Lifetime Thursday night and I, for one, am absolutely thrilled. For the uninitiated, Project Runway is an Emmy award-winning reality show that pits fashion designers in the ultimate death-match. Every week a new challenge is assigned; some challenges are realistic, such as this season's first task, in which the contestants needed to design a gown for the red-carpet. Other challenges are... not so much (season 5 included a challenge in which the designers needed to make an outfit out of car parts). The designs are then judged on the runway and one designer is kicked out. The final designers left standing put together a full collection and show at Fashion Week in New York City. One wins. Pretty basic. The fate of the show was left hanging after the show's creators decided to move it to Lifetime (from Bravo). Various law suits ensued and the show was in limbo for quite some time.
