The Useless Critic 2.0

So tonight is the summer finale for "Pretty Little Liars," this has been one of the most interesting shows from the summer. By the picture you can clearly see, it's about 4 girls covered in dirt. It's sort of like "Gossip Girl" meets "Babysitters Club" meets "Stephen King." EXCITED!! 8 PM Eastern on ABC Family!

So I just got done watching the ABC Family premiere of "Wild Child," starring Emma Roberts. I watched this film to connect with my Wild Side, by being socially deviant once again and watching a movie that was not made for 22 year old males. I feel so rebellious. If you remember back when I reviewed LymeLife, I made the Bold and Daring move to say that "Emma Roberts is a Prick." And once again, Emma Roberts is playing a girl that is a notorious PRick, capital PR. I had some review notes written, but I scratched them. The first 38 minutes of this movie are so incredibly bad that words do not describe it because there is nothing to say. Emma Roberts plays a party girl from the USA, who gets shipped off to English boarding school, and we don't get to see anything interesting from the back story. So Last night I caught the premiere of the new ABC Family summer show, "Pretty Little Liars." On the outside, Lucy Hale (one of the principles) and the show have a very pseudo-plastic look. But this show surprised me with the complexity of its plot. It is sort of like a low budget "Gossip Girl" minus male leads. Lucy Hale is one of the primary characters, who is from a group of teen girls, who lost one of their closest friends to a mysterious disappearance. Now, there are messages from the lost girl showing up in all directions. This show has more surprise and mystery than meets the eye. So tonight in a few minutes is the premiere of ABC Family's 2 most popular shows. At 8pm is "The Secret Life of Teenager." I have stated in the past that I watch this show; however, it is not for its quality. The show is so boring, but I keep coming back. At least the previews make me want to find out what happens. The show is chee-z and fake. For the most part it's really annoying, but I've been watching it for so long I want to know what happens. Oh and I know she had the baby, and the pic is out of date, but whatever. Not much has happened to Shailene's life since she lost all that weight. More importantly, At 9pm is "Make It, Or Break It," with its second season premiere. I love this show. It might look a little girlie, being about female gymnasts and dating boys, but it is really good. I love the character dynamic of the leads and for a teen show it is very well written. Okay, so I was watching the Series Finale of the ABC Family hit show Kyle XY, and there is one thing that I really noticed about it. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the series here is a synopsis….This guy wakes up in the woods outside of Seattle without a memory or a belly button (?). No, but seriously it is a somewhat entertaining teen sci-fi drama. The actors aren’t too bad on some occasions nor is the story, but back to the plot this guy, Kyle, has to learn the secrets that lie in his mysterious origin and protect those around him. As the closing minutes approached, my sister and I were saying…. “Okay, it’s getting really good. How are they going to end it?” But then nothing happened. It was just over. This has to be the driest ending to a series that I’ve seen. I have one word for you Kyle XY. UNSATISFYING!!!!
