"Race for Caress"- School of X

Image
School of X is a Danish pop act known for making "arty indie-pop songs whose songs have historically had a darker bent," but lately the artist (otherwise known as Rattmus Littauer) has been enjoying a more positive turn of songs. Case in point, "Race for Caress," a song about the lifelong search for love and the frustrations that spring from it. Which sounds heavy, until you hear the actual song, which is a laidback pop track with almost a reggae tinge to it. The song has been called "addictive" and Littaeur himself stated the song is pretty down to the basics musically: “The instrumentation is as simple as it gets: drums, bass and guitar." Littauer has made a name for himself working with artists such as Clairo and MØ, and he has enjoyed success with his solo career in Denmark and abroad since 2017. His second album, "Dancing Through the Void," is due out on September 24th.

I just drank a lot of coffee, so we can keep going for a while.  when in Denmark, people ride bikes a-lot pickings are getting SLIM as we circle Scandinavia. it's all good, though. Mother Denmark birthed us Oh Land. who can hate on that? And I love Oh Land. To get further into detail would be redundant. just click on the tag please. Next up! ALPHABEAT!  do you not listen to that and feel ecstatic? damn right.  The Raveonettes!  garage rock, jangly Jesus and Mary Chain lite, really. and don't forget what traditionally is the realm of Denmark itself...Danish rock! i.e. GO BACK TO THE ZOO and that's it for Denmark. see also: - happiness - LEGOS - Oh Land, again. what did you expect? SHE HAS A NEW VIDEO COMING OUT SOON.

you need to hear this: OH LAND!

Do you like adorably Scandinavian things?? Maybe you're like me and that easy to satisfy. Oh Land is the current discovery that has me fapping at the knees. She's catchy as an STD and cute as a polar bear cub. She hails from Denmark, lives in Brooklyn, because she is a hipster (as I am, because I live in ~Millcreek~). her single "Sun of a Gun"- which reminds me a lot of say Goldfrapp or Moloko- is really making a splash here. But my personal favorite is "Rainbow" although "White Nights" is fun, too. she's opening for Scissor Sisters, tourin' a lot of places and doing a signing in NYC next week! UGH! I WISH I COULD GO! recommended: if you like ANNIE or KYLIE

I've always been kind of ambivalent about the Raveonettes- they're not bad, but I've never been like, OMFG THEY'RE SOOOOOO GOOD. well this song may have swayed my opinion on them, definitely. have a look yourself: The Raveonettes - New Music - More Music Videos so sweet, so other-worldly, one of the best things to come out of 2009 for sure. think of a Jesus and Mary Chain for our time, or some forgotten alternative classinc from 1989. here you go. love their cameo at the end. FACT: they take their name from the Buddy Holly song, "Rave On." woo!
