The Useless Critic 2.0

Looking for some good old-fashioned garage rock? I've got you today! Meet the NYC-based band Native Sun, which remind me a lot of the Velvet Underground meets the Jonathan Richman & the Roadrunners with just a touch of The Strokes and Sonic Youth. Honestly? It's very refreshing to me right now. Not saying modern rock stinks (it doesn't; there are always good gems like Royal Otis) but garage rock has a special spot in my heart. Listen to the single "Adam" below: Their debut LP drops September 19th, the same day as "A BIG BOLD BEAUTIFUL JOURNEY" which I already have a ticket to see because apparently my mid-life crisis is being a fangirl!

Song of the Day So the Strokes are back. I'm glad, as the neo-folk wave was getting old!  What are your thoughts?

an Euro-centric music for a Monday: "Song For No One"- Miike Snow (Swedes! this band was pretty big last year and I just did not care. but this? this is a good song. "Heatwave"- Alphabeat I find it's hard to stay in a bad mood while listening to Alphabeat. so- energetic! so happy! Lady Gaga loves these Danes! so should you! "Airplanes"- Local Natives I've heard these guys described as a lesser Fleet Foxes. not necessarily true! they're good! "Love Is All"- The Tallest Man on Earth this is the Swedish Bob Dylan, right here. "The Next Time Around"- Little Joy Fabrizio from the Strokes' new band!!!!! I'm not sure what to think of most of their stuff, but this is not bad at all.
