last night in sitcoms

Image
Hot in Cleveland made its long awaited comeback last night. OF COURSE I watched. I was glued to my TV like that kid in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory . my thoughts? despite a great cameo from Mary Tyler Moore and support from NEWMANNNN (hallo NEWMAN), this was kind of a dismal opener. I mean, it wasn't bad; it was simply entertaining- but it didn't leave me with the sort of feeling I want when I finish a show. sigh. I think this season will be all right, but second seasons can make or break a series. see: Pushing Daisies. the real reason I started watching this show was JANE LEEVES , of Daphne- Frasier fame. and speaking of, when I am in Seattle next week I am going on a FRASIER- tour. meaning: I AM GOING TO CAFE NERVOSA AND HAVING A CAPPUCCINO OR SOMETHING WITH A WISP OF CINNAMON you know what I mean? also: David, you better be there! for a success in comedy though, check out Modern Famil y which never disappoints. this episode involved the kids walking in on the parent...

PERSON OF THE YEAR

Image
Last year you do not remember me picking the guy that saved a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit. s'okay. this year was hard! who to pick? WHO TO PICK? Julian Assange? Kate Middleton? Betty White (just for you, Ursula?) UFFIE?!?!?! oh, that was a hard decision. like Sophie's Choice , really. then I started pondering this, hard. and the Useless Critic's person of the year was pretty obvious after hard pondering: why: “I have. I woke up in Vegas once and there was no toothpaste, but there was some leftover Jack Daniel’s. I figured it would be good for my morning breath.” “That depends. You’ve got to define ‘party girl.’ If you mean I’m a walking good time, then hells yeah. But I’m not wasted and stumbling out of clubs and getting DUIs. I’m not that kind of party girl. I may be blonde and fun as balls, but I’m not a moron.” “Oh, yeah. I don’t remember if I’ve ever made out with Katy, but I’ve kissed some b****es in my life.” “I’m sure you gathered this by now: I just do what I w...

HOT IN CLEVELAND: A REVIEW

Image
Airing at 10 pm on Wednesday nights- I think I found my new favorite show, the Sean Hayes-produced Hot in Cleveland . In case you have your head in a rock and missed the massive publicity circuit this week, the show is a traditional half-hour long sitcom that, as billed in the beginning, is taped in front of a "live studio audience." When I heard these words, my heart seriously skipped a beat. We're back to the old school, friends! There's a laugh track! and it's supposed to be real ! sigh. TV nerddom moment, commence. and end. It's like this generation's answer to the Golden Girls- four LAYDEEZ that you don't normally see being catered to on television (but we're on cable! so anything can happen!) are living together and battling...um, life....together. AND BETTY WHITE IS ON IT. BETTY. WEARING TRACKSUITS. All our leading women come from respective comedy TV backgrounds. Valerie Bertinelli of - my god, I don't even know WHAT she did anymore, ju...

does this look good (on me)

the answer to this, NO WAY IT DOES NOT, this is what cinematic wet dreams are made from! and yes, YOU NEVER ESCAPE HIGH SCHOOL, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE SIGOURNEY WEAVER! it's just a shame we have to wait til September. the UC may be on hiatus then... p.s. there is also a "You Again" from the 1980s with John Stamos. dislike! dislike!

BETTY WHITE ON SNL WAS AMAZING

I still cannot get over how good it was. SNL is NEVER that good! and they brought some GREAT people back, omg. Amy Poehler sounded very weird though... I loved her hits at facebook and the tasteful jokes about her age. and "SHE'S A LESBIAN! LESBIAN!" ahahahaha plus when Jay-Z dedicated that song to her. ahhhh! check out this link for further details: http://www.newsopi.com/showbiz/betty-white-snl/1651/ did you not enjoy that???

waxing on graduation

I haven't been posting much lately because I've been prepping for my LAST SET OF FINALS AS AN UNDERGRADUATE EVER and working on my thesis and probably meaningless shit like that, yeah. so my motivation has been drained. never fear! in the next week, you'll probably be sick of me. fair warning. I remember arriving at Edinboro as a freshman back in 2006 and immediately hating the place. hating, hating, hating. loathing doesn't seem strong enough. I even calculated the days until graduation- a 1000-something odd number I wrote down somewhere (which I obviously kept so safe). "Brittany, stop complaining," some dumb bitch I don't talk to anymore told me. "Enjoy it." Well (this is addressed to you, dumb bitch), I didn't enjoy it until the past year and a half. which in- I fell in with an amazing group of people, absolutely lovely (if not just as bitchy as I am, which is wonderful) who I will really, really miss. which perplexes me. because, in the ...
