FIVE Metal Albums That Need to Be Heard Before Perdition and the Cold Darkness of Space

Image
Hello if you are anything like Jim Davis and Garfield, you are probably dreading this Monday like it was Montag fuer Heidi Montag. Whatever that means? AWM and I are going to revert back to revertion and insert some more metal where things out to be inserted (the sockets). QATFYG: What are five metal albums that you need to hear before you die? I am going to arrange this as five albums that are often neglected when it comes to metal. These are five that people often overlook or don’t even bring them to mind. Cannibal Corpse – Cannibal Corpse Big surprise I picked this one to kick things off. Cannibal Corpse has become such a legend in so many ways in the world of death metal, it would be only fit to begin with their demo that launched some of the most pure death metal guitar riffs and shriek-worthy vocals, such as heard in the song “A Skull Full of Maggots.” Startovarius – Episode Why this one? Because this sound of Startovarius is a sound that pushes the edges of metal genres, this Fi...

Death Metal Blog Post by Nader Bouberhan

Death Metal Blog Post So this is a post that is bringing back a time in life that still exists. Wait, that doesn’t make any sense. I think what I was trying to say is during many years of High School, while other people were off having gratuitous social lives, I was at home listening to hours and hours of death metal. I looked at myself as a not only a pish posh metal fanatic, but rather a philosopher and musicologist in my Death Metal obsession. --Now, this is the point where I get to sound even more like screwball mush . I don’t listen to Death Metal because of any form of anger, masochism, or unfriendliness. I like to listen to this type of music when I am excited, but it is more than that. Everyone always seems to lump Death Metal in with anger and hatred…..and most of the time they have the right to do so. But the connection I have with this genre is an appreciation of the most extreme moments in life, an appreciation to see just how heavy music can get and to find art where most...

A Slice of Death Metal by AWM

by AWM I'm not trying to say that I know shit about death metal or that you ought to listen to this death metal, but I've had a few drinks and I'm reading to take it down like Chico Dusty. The first thing you need to know is that death metal developed because bands like Possessed started writing thrash metal that was just too fierce to be called thrash. Some people dispute this fact, but I'm not here to win the Pulitzer. Possessed's Seven Churches is some legit ranked shit and albums that are somewhere between death and thrash hold a special place in my heart as a huge thrash fan, but I'm not going to talk about it here today. The first album I'm going to tell you about is over 20 years old and it's still harder than a teenager at a strip club. It's Morbid Angel's Altars of Madness . This is perhaps the only good thing to ever come out of South Florida, music-related or otherwise. It cemented Trey Azagthoth as a metal guitar god, and wa...
