I GO BACK TO DECEMBER ALL THE TIME: a review

Image
Standing in front of you saying I'm sorry for that night, And I go back to December.... ALL THE TIME (my jam) Once in a life you buy a CD...and it turns out to be kismet. Or you simply buy a CD, which no one ever does anymore, and that in itself is a big deal. So there I stood at Starbucks, somewhat out-of-step on my lunch break. barista stares at me. " Americano ?" NOD. "Tall?" NOD. (I am a regular, stfu ) "Anything else?" I see Taylor and her poofy purple dress staring at me from the counter. it's tempting. Taylor, courtesy of Cara and Alice way back when, has grown on me. My mom is also a fan. I grab the CD. "This too." The barista continues to stare me down as if she is judging me. So woooot . I could have bought that stinky Katy Perry album instead! BITCH, I AM THE REASON YOU HAVE WORK. WORSHIP ME. The last CD I bought was Charlotte Gainsbourg's IRM in February. I have actually bought all of her albums. this is because a sma...

Speak Now

I'm just going to come out and say it: right now I'm charging my iPod and importing Taylor Swift's Speak Now in anticipation of putting it on said iPod. I just bought it (gasp! a real CD!) and drove down McKnight Road and back blaring the whole thing. I'm going to go ahead and give it a B+ (although I'm tempted by an A- -) overall. The title song is totally cute. Dear John is, well, um. Mean feels like an anthem. While I'm here... John Mayer and Kim Kardashian? They're both kind of cut from the same cloth, if you ask me. Discuss!

these are end times!

- The first thing I heard upon reentering the States was that, no, not that the recession was over or not that Bob Woodward just wrote some new tell-all about President Obama's homeland security philosophy, but that JENNIFER ANISTON WAS BACK IN THE ARMS OF JOHN MAYER. I grabbed Al's arm at the JFK newsstand. it was like Maria when talking to Anita in West Side Story after Tony kills Bernardo. MAKE IT NOT BE TRUE! MAKE IT NOT BE TRUE! - Los Angeles is experiencing record-breaking heat. not just for September, but FOREVER. - Pittsburgh is hosting its first-ever fashion week. like, I don't even know what to say about this. how is this possible? is Donatella going to be there? should I go and bring my Coach bag and my dog Toto? I'M SO CONFUSED I NEED VODKA. - Members of the U.S. Air Force are reporting an increase in UFO activity- an increase, really?- around nuclear weapons facilities. Mulder! Scully! When Obama was briefed about aliens- OFFICIAL: President, you need to ...

YOU NEED TO HEAR THIS- september! september!

As Rebecca waxed earlier, the first signs of fall are upon us. The cloudscapes are gloomier; the air is colder; STARBUCKS UNVEILS THEIR NEW FALL LINE-UP. TV shows begin again, streets are quiet in the afternoon, so forth. there are certain kinds of music that put me in the mood for the fall season. I like relaxing music; I like the sort of music you could study or take a nap to. well maybe not like, a full nap, but an afternoon siesta deal. and why Starbucks has not jumped on Sam and Ruby, I will never know completely! they're this acoustic soul duo straight out of the American south (Nashville, to be specific!). and they were perfect for long, lazy summer days but now they're great for doing whatever it is we do in the fall. pick pumpkins? get ready to hibernate? IDK. their voices gently coincide and work off each other in an easygoing way. it's just some of the most beautiful, peaceful, real music I've fallen upon lately. If you like (shudder) John Mayer or Jack Johns...

REBECCA'S INAUGERAL POST

because I have a job for a little while, I am taking a break from blogging. - B.Kemp. I can think of no better person to semi-channel my presence. - As almost none of you know (aside from BrittBritt), I transplanted from Edinboro to Pittsburgh. I’m going to catch you up on a few Pittsburgh things. There have been some nasty storms around lately. Consequently, my community has a road blocked off and no internet or phone service. Stuck with a Blackberry and no cable, I made the trek to Starbucks today to suck up some free Wi-Fi (and an iced vanilla latte because, hey, it’s hot out there). First of all, if you really want to get John Mayer tickets for August 1st, check out 96.1 FM Pittsburgh tomorrow at 8:00am. The station is planning to give away some tickets, if it’s your style to get up that early. Even here no one is in their cars that early. However, with tickets going for around $50 each and good tickets all but sold out, listening tomorrow morning is your best bet. I realize John ...
