I'd Hit It: Emma Watson!

Image
Here's a blast from the past! Welcome back to the segment "I'd Hit It," discussing people I may or may not find attractive. Likely "may." I haven't done this since 2011, so hurr we go: Come on, Emma Watson is oozes class. And she's beautiful. And British. Why wouldn't you hit this? I liked her in the Harry Potter movies. In fact, I had something of a small crush on her. But I felt so weird because she was younger than me.  However, I am dating a younger woman now, so I guess that belief I had has since vanished.  But you tell me what you think after watching this: Also she poledances in that movie. AND she doesn't have Harry Styles on her phone. LIKE!!!!  Until next time bozos,  Britt "I'm a 15-Year-Old Boy" Kay

My life is complete. ... 10 Reasons Why!

Image
Last night, by total accident, my gf (giraffe?) and I discovered this British woman, Emily Hartridge. She has a web series similar to that of Jenna Marbles. However, Emily is British and her whole schtick is 10 Reasons Why. Apparently everything in life can be broken down into 10 reasons. I see why now. This one is my favorite so far. However, she's been doing this since 2011, so I've got a lottttt to go through: She is my new hero. Like her on Facebook and follow her on Youtube .

Follow-up Stuart Newman interview!

Image
So back in 2009, I interviewed up-and-coming singer-songwriter Stuart Newman. He was a musician nice enough to reach out to me when I was just starting, which is a fact I truly appreciate. There is something to be said for decent people in this world! Anyway, I got back in touch with Stuart Newman and asked how he has been. How how has he been? Let's see:   UC:   How have things changed for you since we last spoke three years ago? Stuart:  Well, I guess a lot has changed in 3 years. I’ve written more, recorded more and done bigger and better things, I think. I’ve recorded in the recording studio more and I now have far more video things than I did then. Everything has continued to improve. So yeah, huge changes, moving forward all the time. UC:  What are you working on right now? Stuart:  I can’t reveal specifically what I’m currently working on, but you can probably guess what it might be.  Something  new will hopefully be coming in ...

On Vlogging and Fleur

Image
By total accident, I have discovered the British beauty "vlogger" Fleur de Force . Is she incredible? She's...addicting! It's weird; I swear on any grave that matters I NEVER watch vlogs. Really. But this girl and her dog sidekick (Woof) have sucked me in. Apparently, she is celebrating "Vlogust." Which mean she vlogs errday. That is some tenacity/willpower, right there. I don't blog everyday... or do I? Now I have made several vlogs and most of them- save in cases where Liz does the thing where she posts things of me online I'm not entirely comfortable with (haha)- have not seen the light of day. Granted though, I did go on a diatribe about my closet in one...some things are for the best! Mostly though- Fleur's stuff (she's really likable, too, which doesn't hurt her cause!) is useful because she has beauty tips and whatnot. But I'm really curious as to how/why someone is willing to put their self totally out there- via vlo...

St. Vincent And A Fan; Or Why You Should Just Give In and LOVE HER

Image
St. Vincent has really moved on from being "sort of weird" to "absolutely adorable in an earnest and plucky way" for me. Maybe not plucky; nah plucky is too Katie Couric. Nonetheless, she's really...hmm. Enchanting in a way! And she comes across in an earnest, unpretentious way vein. At least on the internets .  Recently, as within the past 24 hours, St. Vincent somehow injured a fan while stagediving. Annie Clark, being a decent person, reached out to this British, resilient fan via Twitter.  I wish I could show you those tweets; I can't show you those tweets (that being the second time I've typed that today).  Check them out yourself- they're so cute and like...seriously I just want to have coffee with her someday. DRINK COFFEE WITH ME, ANNIE!  I'm leaving tomorrow for Arizona. Wish me luck...I am really jaded on these sort of moves, but I'm hoping any potential positive outweighs the negative and I make it through this okay!...

a sort of Christmas interview (with "21st century alt pop")

Image
Summer Camp is a very cool duo of a boy and a girl (English indie pop stars Jeremy Warmsley and cool, almost Saint Etienne-voiced Elizabeth Hartney) that seems popular this time of year especially, due to their abundance of Christmas songs. I think a lot of people shy away from making holiday music, especially those folks in the indieverse. Not these guys! They welcome it and do a mighty fine job of it, too. So, as procedure, I tried to get to interview them and lo and behold, they were fast responders. Thus, my interview with a band you should be listening to, ESPECIALLY if you want to be cool with your Christmas music, Summer Camp! How did you guys join forces originally? Summer Camp:  In October 2009, Elizabeth gave Jeremy a mix-tape which included the song "I Only Have Eyes For You" by the Flamingos. They thought it might be fun to record a cover version - Jeremy had his own studio, although Elizabeth had never sung before. We  recorded it and pu...

Veterans' Day 2011: Dulce et Decorum Est

Image
Bent double, like old beggars under sacks, Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge, Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs And towards our distant rest began to trudge. Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind; Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots Of tired, outstripped Five-Nines that dropped behind. Gas! GAS! Quick, boys! -- An ecstasy of fumbling, Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time; But someone still was yelling out and stumbling And flound'ring like a man in fire or lime . . . Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light, As under I green sea, I saw him drowning. In all my dreams, before my helpless sight, He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning. If in some smothering dreams you too could pace Behind the wagon that we flung him in, And watch the white eyes writhing in his face, His hanging face, like a devil's sick of sin; If you could hear, ...

And now, a post from England.

Yesterday (because it totally matters to you, dear reader, to know every tiny little detail here. You're just that good to bloggers. I like that shirt on you, by the way. It's a good colour for you) I heard about a person I work with, someone whom I don't like. Let's call him, for need of a name, Silly Billy.  It feels more fitting to the story. This Silly Billy has a car. Or at least yesterday he did. He lives accross the road from a petrol station, and drives over to feed his car. Realising that he's forgotten his wallet, he enables the steering lock, climbs out, locks the car, and runs across the street for his bank card.   Now then, dear readers; a pop quiz!  What did Billy forget to do?   There are actually two things he could have done. The first, less obvious one, is he could have left his car in gear. If a car is in gear, but the engine turned off, that car won't move for love nor money. He could also have enabled the handbreak. But he didn'...
