It has come to my confused attention that TRAIN seems to be making its way through the spring festival circuit. QUE ES?  did I miss something...?  I don't think this is morally right and I am not sure how most people can sleep at night, knowing this. I mean- "Drops of Rain. "Hey Soul Sister." Are you kidding me?  Train reminds me of unhip middle aged people listening to NPR in between takes on their favorite local adult contemporary station. "Celine Dion!" "Sarah McLachlan!" "Air Supply!" And they hear this song in their car, on their way from pottery class or dinner at Applebee's, and start tapping their toes and abusing their steering wheels and all kinds of weird middle-aged people stuffs. The band Tree Music is a relatively new thing. Discovery. Creation! And they are playing their first show TOMORROW. so if you happen to live in Colorado- and I don't know a lot of people that happen to live there save maybe like two- then by all means! CHECK IT OUT According to member Brandy Burdick, the actual formalization (is that a word? whatevs) of the band went down in March, so it is a Pisces or maybe an Aries. The first song written was "Trees" which, according to Burdick, "inspired the band name." The members of Tree Music- Redwoods are awesome, by the way- are as follows: B. Burdick- vocals Dan Grant- vocals and guitar and sometimes ukulele Scott Ten Hoeve- vocals/guitar 3 more members would be added to the band's line-up in time: Bill Goldstein- ukele, guitar and melodica. on this Memorial Day: if I was the producer of some high-end Hollywood film I would stick this song in there. this girl has a lot of talent; watch out for her!

I almost forgot about this! Because I can't see Metric in Pittsburgh on Tuesdsay ( :( ) I AM seeing Miss Nellie McKay- a very, very talented singer/songwriter who played the sister in "P.S. I Love You" and grabbed my attention with her debut album, a must-hear, "Get Away From Me." she just released- just, as of Oct. 13- her tribute to Doris freaking Day, Normal As Blueberry Pie. Here she is, being all adorable and smarmy, and like my one friend stated, Regina Spektor-ish. AND SHE'S PLAYING AN UKULELE! Dance break! ... Anyway, she will be playing at Cleveland for two engagements at the jazz bar Nighttown. November 23rd and November 24th for 20 dollars, both shows beginning at 7 p.m. NO REASON TO BE MISSING THIS.
