"You" - Lucy Daydream (you need to hear this)

Image
This song is a throwback from 2019, but I absolutely love it and think more way people need to be aware of its existence. I guess Netflix featured it on a show or movie a while ago, but it's likely been a minute and so. Check it out! This is like a "Wicked Games" by way of dreampop with some shoegaze-y elements.  It looks like the Denver-based group remains active, so go shoot their other stuff a listen if you have some time today! I hope to be back with more contemporary stuff very soon - just went through my 2024 playlist and it's like if Lilith Fair came back and was repopulated with female pop singers. It was hard not to add the entire "Brat" album!

Marvel's Jessica Jones starring Krysten Ritter gets release date

Image
Yes, I know I'm a little late on this one, but I've been super busy and stuff. Anyway, Marvel's next Netflix original series, Jessica Jones , is set to premiere with 13 one-hour episodes on November 20 at 12:01 a.m. PT in all territories where Netflix is available. Jessica Jones is t he second of Marvel's four Netflix-exclusive live-action series leading up to the crossover miniseries The Defenders , and stars my beloved Krysten Ritter in the titular role, who tries to rebuild her life as a private investigator in New York City, following a tragic ending to her short-lived superhero career. Watch the first teaser below: And here are some of the first photos unveiled: I'm so excited! Given the success of its predecessor Daredevil , I really hope Jessica Jones will follow suit. Ritter is a terrific (and criminally overlooked) actress and deserves every bit of success. I'm forever mad that those assholes at ABC canceled her show Don't Trust ...

glee

I have a confession to make. I started watching glee. I told myself I would never watch this show. It seems (seemed) stupid and whiny and adolescent. Ok, it still seems stupid. In the past two days, I've watched nine episodes. So help me, the only show I watch with such ferocity is weeds, and no show will ever be as good as weeds. So let me break it down for you: It's a glee club... with a pregnant cheerleader, a boy with a disability, a girl with a fake stutter, the quarterback of the football team (and his cronies), a diva, another diva, some other cheerleaders, and yet another diva. The glee teacher, who is also the Spanish teacher, is expecting a child with his wife who is only pretending to be pregnant, but he's in love with the guidance counselor who is engaged to the football coach who only wears short shorts. Are you getting all this? And they sing about everything. Is this making sense? The first season is on netflix. Just go watch it. I needed something to fill th...

Anna Wintour, Epitome of Class

I came across two spectacular fashion-related items today, and I must say that I am rather jealous. First, Anna Wintour (omgannawintour!) is hosting a dinner at her house - possibly as I write this - to benefit the Democratic National Committee. Regardless of politics, this has to be the best and most expensive party - er, elegant and fashionable gathering - happening tonight. It seems that it costs $30,000 to get inside Anna’s house. I am hoping that my invitation was tragically misplaced. Seriously, Anna, why the cold shoulder? @WWD Also, W is filming some documentary about its September issue. Hasn’t this been done before? Wasn’t it called, oh, I don’t know, “The September Issue”? And did it not feature Vogue and Anna Wintour? Yes, it did. I’m not sure how W is going to make a better documentary out of this than The September Issue . Almost no one cares that Stefano Tonchi is W ’s new editor-in-chief. The general opinion about the mere idea of this documentary seems to be le...
