My friend and cohort, Zach Owen, recently contributed this pretty cool interview to the Useless Critic with director/writer Greg Lamberson . Check it out!  What originally attracted you to filmmaking? Greg:   When I was four years old, I was obsessed with comic books and cartoons, like all kids are. But I just never grew out of it. The other kids got into baseball and things like that, but I just got into a deeper and deeper love of movies. Who are your greatest influences (for filmmaking)?   Greg:   I’ve always liked monsters, dating back to my childhood. I have always enjoyed Hammer films and Roger Corman movies, which were syndicated to my local TV stations back in the days before cable anmd home video. George Romero certainly influenced me, he was a real rebel at that time, with DAWN OF THE DEAD and MARTIN . NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD had a huge impact on me. Keren Ann/David Lynch

Before I leave for the day, I'd like to share with you my experiences seeing/meeting Keren Ann and seeing David Lynch. David Lynch spoke about meditation because he is a diehard fanatic meditation fiend. I am sorry if that sentence made no sense, but if you ever see him speak, EVER, or just youtube the dude, you will know what I mean. he made a foundation dedicated to it, for the love of God! The type he specializes in is TRANSCENDENTAL MEDITATION which has a myriad of benefits. It's worth checking out: http://www.tm.org/ Well David and a renowned researcher in that field (names are escaping me right now) gave about an hour-long talk on it, which was mostly Q and A. David Lynch is just what you would expect in person (hair, strange voice, etc) and so much more. at one point, WE WERE TWO FEET AWAY FROM EACH OTHER. RIP SIDNEY LUMET

Sidney Lumet, who has had a directing career as old as time, died today at the age of 86. He was responsible for classics such as Network and 12 Angry Men. Most recently, he did Before the Devil Knows You're Dead in 2007. RIP Mr. Lumet! I'M MAD AS HELLLLLLLL.... question: favorite Lumet film?
