Sofia Talvik To Play Phoenix: EXCLUSIVE Interview!

Image
So here's what is up: Sofia Talvik is playing in Phoenix on Jan. 10 @ 8 p.m. @ the Lost Leaf. I will be there. You should go, because she's a talented singer-songwriter, Swedish and a longtime UC supporter. On Jan. 12, she will be Obscura (Rips) playing at 9 p.m. Anyway. Sofia has been traveling across the USA in a RV. This is her first Phoenix show. Some guy in Scottsdale was a douche to her. I hope he gets a kidney stone. I asked Sofia some questions, per usual, here were here responses! Thanks, Sofia! UC: How is your tour going?  S: It's great! It's a big adventure. Arizona is our 36th state on the tour! damn! UC: What was 2012 like for you?  S:  A lot of work, a lot of fun and a lot of learning new things. We do all bookings and promo ourselves so the tour is not just about playing music and partying. It's been really hard work, but we've had some amazing shows so it's paid off. And it's so exciting to have seen so much of the US. I...

Catching Up With Swede of Importance, Sofia Talvik @ SXSW

Image
S ofia Talvik, dear friend of the Useless Critic, is currently touring the States in an RV in  support of her newest effort, The Owls Are Not What They Seem. In between things for all of us, we "caught up" with each other. It's a very exciting time brewing for Ms. Talvik as you will see!  UC:  What's life on the road been like?  Sofia:  It's been really fun. It's great to tour in an RV, because wherever you go you have your own bed with you and don't have to stay in crappy motels. But it's also been really hard sometimes. It's a lot of work, because we also do all our bookings and promo while on the road. So every other day or so we go to our coffice, as we call Starbucks, for a few hours and work on our computers to keep the tour going. UC:  How is the reception for the Owls Are Not What They Seem ?  Sofia:   Because I've been on the road since before it was released I haven't had a chance to do proper promo for it, b ut the re...

Some night music!

I was introduced to GROOVESHARK a few weeks ago, a few happy weeks ago! Since then, my long-adhered-to HYPEMACHINE obsession has been....muckrucked, yeah? well if that word doesn't make any sense, I've gotta recommend you read Ulysses . I think you'd like it.  Here is a song I beat to death with a fish (a trout, no less, trout being my favorite fish) in 2009. I hope you like it; these Swedes are called the Sounds and never want to do an interview with me. I did however hug Maja. For a long time, I got away with not washing that hoodie. I think I left it in my Swedish hostel though. have a good night!  question:  what do you think Jeremy Lin listens to, pre-NBA game?

Scandinavia Week Begins

Image
Good Morning Monday: This week at The UC officially begins Scandinavia week. After the next set of days, the Nordic World will never be the same. I don't know what that means, but it is our theme. Hopefully, this week we will have some interviews. There will be lots of music. Maybe some more of that reminiscing about our times in Scandinavia. Should be Good. QATFYG: Where is your heart in Scandinavia?
