A review of "One Day."

I read this book because the previews for the upcoming film- YES I SAID PREVIEWS - made it seem kind of decent. I stress "kind of." Maybe I just meant the posters: well at the same time I don't like how her tongue is out. Well, this is the book, and the book is rather good. David Nicholls is a very talented, subdued writer. He attacks things in both this human and sentimental way without sopping on too hard. Kind of makes me disappointed in myself it took A FILM WITH ANNE HATHAWAY TO COME OUT to realize who he was! He's like the halfway point between Ian McEwan and Nick Hornby I believe, so if you're interested, you know to check that out.  The book/upcoming film (Nicholls wrote the screenplay) focus in on this one day in this not-a-couple's life for 15 years of their friendship. July 15th, which I think is some kind of weird religious observation? but yeah. it's just an interesting way of showing how they grow from people, from university students...

oh, youtube. the endless enjoyment you supply.

People make montages for everything. EVERYTHANG. I kid you not, I found a tribute to Marion done to Shaggy's "Angel." SOME PEOPLE JUST HAVE NO TASTE. MARION SET TO EDITH PIAF ENJOY IT, SAVOR IT, LIGHT SOME CANDLES AND LICK IT yeah, youtube is such an odd sociological phenomenon to me.  also, this exists:   LIKE I SAID, ODD SOCIOLOGICAL PHENOMENON. I rather watch a Marion montage than some up-close footage of Noni's feet. fun fact:  I will fantasize about these two things later.

autumn leaves

this was originally a French poem by Jacques Prevert. It was called LES FEUILLES MORTES (the Dead Leaves) and was written in 1945. However, it was translated into English by Johnny Mercer and now is immortalized into a jazz standard. and was given the title of "Autumn Leaves" AKA THE DEAD LEAVES. A lot of people who have sang this song are now dead. Fact! so for October I was thinking of highlighting a different DEAD person of interest every few days, and this is sort of a nice introduction to that. nice? I guess. Here are some versions of "Autumn Leaves" which I like, because this is actually one of my favorite songs: Nat King Cole (DEAD) Edith Piaf (DEAD) Yves Montand (DEAD) Frank Sinatra (DEAD) Eva Cassidy (DEAD) the story of her death is so sad. poor girl, RIP. AND ONE WHO WILL NEVER DIE....
