A Review of the "Mother's Day" Trailer

Image
There are many things I regret spending time on in my 27 years of life: - Playing "The Sims" so much and setting up ungodly scenarios for my characters. - Writing "Frasier" fanfiction as a young girl (I married Niles btw, I guess in some other world, we have several kids by now. Happy birthday, David Hyde Pierce, love of my early childhood!) - Most of the things I posted on Livejournal as a petulant teenager. But among the things I regret is watching the "Mother's Day" trailer. Holy crap. Why did I do that to myself? I might as well have watched a candid interview with Gwyneth Paltrow about her lifestyle. It would have had the same effect. Frickin' Gwyneth Paltrow. That's another can of worms for some other Sunday.   So I listen to a lot of Ted talks and Super Soul Sundays when I work or am at home. I find them really comforting. I'm also probably 40 when I'm not busy being 15 again.   And sometimes, I get these ads o...

A group review of "Celeste and Jesse Forever"

Image
guess which is which? I'm John Ritter, you dummy!       Starring Kurt, Britt and Ursula.     Britt:   as much as I enjoyed   Celeste and Jesse Forever , it is easy to write off the movie as a romantic comedy with weak characters.     love means never having 2 grow up Ursula:   Sure, Rashida Jones as Celeste can be seen as the high-strung, controlling female character who's got her life together but doesn't know what she wants.  And Andy Samberg as Jesse can be seen as the sweet and adorable guy who never really grew up.   Kurt :  Agreed. There has been a growing trend of intelligent "romantic comedies" lately ( Bridesmaids comes to mind), as much as that sounds like an oxymoron. I'm not exactly sure if C & J fits that mold; it had plenty of laughs, but it felt more grounded than other comedies I've seen. It had more in common with Annie Hall than whatever crap Kate Hudson's been in...

so i finally saw NINE

Which wasn't as terrible as the critics would like you to believe. I'll probably see it again at the dollar theater so I can get a better feel for it- it was a bit hard to follow at times and didn't come together quite as well, quite as tightly as, say, Chicago . That being said, the highlights of the film were, without a doubt: - Kate Hudson, holy shit. "Cinema Italiano" was probably the highest point. - Fergie, who like, took on a totally new dimension for me...I have more respect for her now, knowing how talented she was. - Sophia Loren. FIERCE. - Nicole Kidman, who I kept forgetting was even in this film- a small part, but I think she excels at it. her big song "Unusual Way" was gorgeous. - Penelope Cruz = hot hot hot. suck it. - MARION COTILLARD STOLE MY HEART AND BROKE IT. The scene where she shows up for the screen tests? omg. all in all....much better on stage, but just because it's mostly psychological doesn't make it bad. B-

If you know me, you know I'm like coming about this. even vaguely. every time I see ANYTHING (ANYTHING) related to this film.....I basically jizz in my pants. no shame. and this is coming from a person that hates musicals. I hate "Rent," I hate "Wicked." but THIS OMG OMG OMG. Like "New Moon" you are so dead to me right now. And you know how some people have countdowns to Christmas? that's what I'm doing right now, but it's only because Christmas indicates the national American release of "Nine." ZOMG!!! READ THIS READ THIS READ THIS READ THIS, KATE HUDSON AND MARION COTILLARD (akakaka my future spouse) SING ONTD POSTS BETTER THAN ME Kate Hudson has a SURPRISINGLY good set of pipes. but let's not lie about my reasons to see this. DDL I HATE CHOO

I can't WAIT THAT LONG - and I hate musicals! typically! reasons it won't suck - fucking Fellini wrote that shit. I'm going to rent 8 1/2 this weekend. consider it my cinematic education. - MARION COTILLARD .... ugh ugh ugh - Kate Hudson DANCES? Kate Hudson SINGS? - Daniel Day Lewis, he does NO WRONG - Penelope Cruz is such a temptress - Nicole Kidman! remember Moulin Rouge ? - SOPHIA LOREN AND DAME JUDI DENCH!
