The Useless Critic 2.0

I read this book because the previews for the upcoming film- YES I SAID PREVIEWS - made it seem kind of decent. I stress "kind of." Maybe I just meant the posters: well at the same time I don't like how her tongue is out. Well, this is the book, and the book is rather good. David Nicholls is a very talented, subdued writer. He attacks things in both this human and sentimental way without sopping on too hard. Kind of makes me disappointed in myself it took A FILM WITH ANNE HATHAWAY TO COME OUT to realize who he was! He's like the halfway point between Ian McEwan and Nick Hornby I believe, so if you're interested, you know to check that out.  The book/upcoming film (Nicholls wrote the screenplay) focus in on this one day in this not-a-couple's life for 15 years of their friendship. July 15th, which I think is some kind of weird religious observation? but yeah. it's just an interesting way of showing how they grow from people, from university students...

so I've been seeing a lot of stuff about the Royal Wedding flooding the mainstream media lately. I mean, the people in the media seem to be going apeshit about April 29 th , which isn't really that far away. which I get: it's a big deal. and I'm kind of excited about it. but I mean, like in a passive way. like I feel about the Superbowl. like I feel about most elections. I mean, I'll watch it on TV, you know? probably at a bar. probably wearing a tiara. probably holding a poodle and calling it "precious" and weeping about the fact that I will probably never ever find love. anyway! my feeling is though most Americans DO NOT care. my feeling is though most Brits (that are not me) DO NOT care. I have a few British friends so I've asked them. and the one said he didn't care and the other said that Battle of Los Angeles was a bad movie. and I was like, no shit. SO DO YOU CARE OR WHAT

Friendly Fires finally have a new song out!!!!!! I first heard them in 2008 with "Paris," the ultimate escapist track, which I still adore to this day. And then "On Board" And "Photobooth"- it's good Brit dance rock. Think Bloc Party, think Two Door Cinema Club, think Passion Pit BUT BETTER. and more English! so was I scared to hear their new song? was it like seeing my parents naked, which I have seen? umyes. "SUCK MY DECK" so they collaborated with these guys with Azari and III and this British DJ claims this is disco. but this is better than disco. judge for yourself: B+/A- it's rather arbituary.

Yes! A recurrence in this long-dormant series. Ha, ha, ha. Enjoy it, fookers . This may come as an offbeat choice, and it is. But between her accent and her personage and she likes dogs so much omfg !!!! Have you ever WATCHED this show? It's oddly addicting...my sophomore year I went through a period where this was pretty much the only thing I watched on TV. what a great moment (series of moments). It's starting up for it's next season......don't you want to watch people that shouldn't own dogs trying to figure out why Fido keeps shitting in the bathtub? "NO! I just let him when he was a puppy! The Sugababes are apparently a well-known pop girl group in the UK. "Apparently" because I've never been to the UK and, thus, must rely on what I've read on the internet. They've had a number of hit singles (" Freak Like Me ," " Push the Button ," " Get Sexy ") and are pure, unadulturated pop goodness. While they might be pop, they're foreign, so it's okay to like them. On September 22 it was announced that singer Keisha Buchanan - the last remaining founding member - has left the group. She's been my favorite since I first heard " Overload " and " Run For Cover " on the internet back in 2001. I remained a fan when they rebranded after Siobhan Donaghy left in 2001, and kept listening until Mutya Buena left in 2005.
