The Guinea Pig Pageant

Image
I recently entered my squealing herd of four guinea pigs in a pageant. Yes, a pageant. Like for dogs and little girls. It may seem like crazy and a bit much, but the heart of the pageant was just to have fun. And you know what? It was a lot of fun. It was probably meant generally for little kids, but that's okay. They were the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Yes, I am responsible for those uneven blotches. Thank you very much, you judgmental dick. I will give you some background as to why this was the event that made my October. I'm sure none of it is a drastic surprise. I have been so depressed since August that it's been hard to treat myself well or act like a normal person. In truth, I have felt detached, marooned and hopeless. I have crying jags for no reason (they are getting better) and bouts of irrational rage. It's scary, because I've not been this emotionally all over the place in a long time. I have stayed up at night contemplating my worth and I...

comfort movies (you know you have them)

because this time of year I always end up watching movies I've seen 3000 times. it's comforting I guess. but over the summer I am not as tempted to watch these films as I am in the holiday season. maybe it's the cold? feel free to contribute your own to this list. we should make it GINORMOUS and I'm sure I'm leaving some out anyway. I'm still in a daze because of the snow. somewhere, the angels are doing cocaine. Elf I watch this because of Zooey Deschanel. she stole my heart in this film. and it's so hokey but I have yet to get sick of it and I don't know what that says about me. watch her here ! Love Actually Whilst reading the Taylor Swift-dedicated issue of US Weekly yesterday, Wenli and I discovered the three of us all love this movie. but who doesn't omg. I don't think I haven't met a girl who hasn't aped over this film at some point and help me baby Jesus but I will watch it every time it comes on. The Family Stone I feel like this...

(from earlier- now that my internet connection is baaack. thanks verizon). I don't think the reviews made this look so fantastic, which is disappointing to me. Nora Ephron isn't as bad as I'd like her to be- "You've Got Mail" was on TV again last night and OH SHIT I WATCHED IT FOR THE 200TH TIME. it's sad, really. I remember being younger- in fifth grade? and going through this odd, odd Meg Ryan movie phase. like, I just had to see her movies and understand romance. and I'd hate to say how deep of an impact that and "City of Angels" made on my psyche. regardless, I've never seen "When Harry Met Sally" (I'LL HAVE WHAT SHE'S HAVING) or "Sleepless In Seattle" (you're moving to Seattle? it rains nine months out of the year there!). okay tangent. I mean, Meryl Streep and Amy Adams, you think this movie has something going for it. plus Julia Child seemed like one hell of a fun lady. well maybe film critics are fu...
