Third Annual "Bitch, What Were You Thinking?" Awards

Image
Today, the dubious honor goes to: North Korea. In case you haven't heard, the 1953 armistice has been nullified. Great. So goes North Korea, the world's chihuahua, constantly barking its head off at Dobermans. I wish they actually took care of THEIR OWN PEOPLE instead of blasting off aggression from every direction. WWJAD = What Would (Jodi Arias) Do? Let's hope this situation is resolved without violence.

Kim Jong Un: Has a Girlfriend!

Image
North Korea is a favorite of mine, and I was planning to defect across the border there this December, but things didn't work out...meaning I didn't read the wikipedia correctly, and I assumed they had legalized prostitution...which they don't...for some reason. Focus on the Woman to the Center Left When it comes to Kim Jong Un, he has no need for prepaid princesses, for this palace prince-turned king is now prancing around with a princess paid with only love and/or hormones. Kim Jon Un has been sited with the woman next to him in the photo on multiple occasions. She has been identified as Hyon Song Wol, a North Korean musician. Sources from the South Korean intelligence are speculating this is his new love interest...one source also thinks it's his sister...The UC is going out on a limb and claim that it is both. :P Read this "Yahoo News" excerpt on Hyon Song Wol: "....a singer "who used to front the Bochonbo Electronic Music Band" a...

Volunteer Service in North Korea

Image
QATFYG: Volunteer Service in North Korea? Is it possible? It’s been almost two months since the world saw the passing of the North Korean dictator, Kim Jong Il, and even now, very little new information from the world’s most undocumented nation has been released to the international circuit. North Korea is somewhat of a mystery on many levels. However, certain features of their internal dynamics are rising to international attention. During the 1990’s the notorious famine devasted the rural areas (or any area outside of the capital, Pyongyang). At present foreign aid negotiations between USA and North Korea are underway. Excerpt from Choe Sang-Hun's article in NY Times: "Officials from the United States and North Korea met in Beijing (Early December) to discuss the possible terms of resuming humanitarian aid shipments to the impoverished North. The meeting followed a series of appeals from United Nations and private American relief agencies for urgent aid for the most vulnerab...

Kim Jong Il: What happens next?

Image
?-2011 As said in the last post, this is a strange day for news. Not only is the media finally acknowledging that Ron Paul is at the top of the polls, but North Korea's Leader Kim Jong Il has passed away after a heart attack on a train. But QATFYG: What does this mean for the world? On the important notes: Well, Kim Jong Il was the world's largest customer and consumer of Hennessy Cognac. Who is going to take his place? :O Gasp! 안녕하세요. 미국에서 안녕하세요. 당신이 인터넷이 없어. 그러나 미국과 북한 사이의 평화를 지원합니다. 나는 모든 기근을 종료 지원합니다. 나는 사람들을 지원합니다.

Music of North Korea

Image
Guten Abend! I don’t speak German, but I was just feeling that it’s been too long since I’ve done any writing on North Korea. The Last Time Yes! I am not a person that believes in guilty pleasures, but I find that North Korean Music is a rather surprising and enjoyable getaway. (Sad Irony of Existence) I wish I felt the same way about the music of Somalia. Normally, I like music from horrible places. If you want to go with a really traditional and folkloric sound, I recommend this piece. I guess it would be folkloric meets concert. This piece really struck with me the operatic and orchestral touch. As I always emphasize, dramatic vocals are the factor that really captivate my intrigue. One of my philosophies is that music always has to be fun. It has to catch emotion, but it also just has to have jovial qualities continuously running through. This is a Russian song performed by a North Korean singer, and she does rather well. Like I said, Jovial. There are so many of these videos flo...

Korean Music Party

Image
For a person that is really into Asian music, I knew very little about Korea. I have nothing against Koreans. In fact, Korea has given us many fascinating things such as the tradition of eating a live Octopus and Yunjin Kim. I send wicked respect to Barbara from Punta Arenas for giving me the low down on Korean Music. Brown Eyed Girls - Sign MV (English Sub) Adoration has made its masterpiece, and I am so glad I learned of this group because they capture the really strong uplifting melodies that really sell pop music. Miss A "Bad Girl, Good Girl" from [BAD BUT GOOD] This video is worth every second of your time. 유키스(U-KISS) 시끄러!! M/V (Clean ver.) I found this song, and it isn’t too bad. It gets into a little more of the boy band style that I am not crazy about. However, it is still a fun song. Sadly, this is the clean version. Korean Violin Piece Hae-ga-san-ma-loo-en-ju-moo-la-doo is the name. This is a piano and violin arrangement, and these westerners go for a really tradi...

Sports Stuff and Axis of Evil Gossip

Image
So I know that there have not been many sports posts on the Useless Critic, but the Asia Cup is going on now in Qatar, and it is rather enthralling. QATFYG: But I want to know, does it make me a bad American if I have been supporting North Korea the whole time? It is not because I favor any of their policies. It is just that I think it would be nice if the North Koreans had something to smile about instead of images like BELOW. So is there any chance they will win? NO, and their players will endure another six hours of public shaming. But North Korea, you have my support. It is too bad they lost to Iraq though. Sad Face. Why does everything from North Korea have to be so darn negative?

Two trailers: Tucker Max's I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell , which is my guide for living: http://www.worstpreviews.com/headline.php?id=14555&count=0 this one's kind of old, but for the beloved children classic's Where the Wild Things Are , which I appreciate for nostalgia purposes and Arcade Fire obviously http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/wherethewildthingsare/ Spike Jonze is a pretty good director so I think this will be worth it. and also I have fond recollections of reading the book...the same with Tucker Max, but not really. SONG FOR WENLI: http://www.sendspace.com/file/2sk0va "Mrs. Cold"...
