christina aguilera, what the hell are you doing/i love you for doing it

I feel like this could be said about her whole career, really. hmm.
anyway, I applaud her for taking risks. "Elastic Love" with M.I.A. was a gutsy move. In fact- I listened to "Woohoo." the whole album plays like a gutsy move. what is Britney doing these days anyway? hiding in the south, trying to keep Sean Preston off her lap while she drives her tractor around intersections? Christina may have won the battle here. oh, but you know what Britney is thinking. SHE WILL WIN THE WAR. eat your cheesey poofs, Britney. plan your fifteenth comeback with Girl Talk and Calvin Harris. it will be okay.
I just wikipedia'd (WHAT A SAVVY RESEARCHER I AM RIGHT) the new Aguilera album (Aguilera, arguably Wexford's most famous resident, no offense Rebecca!)- apparently GOLDFRAPP had songs riding on this. GOLDFRAPP.
and let's be honest: today's pop stars, old and new alike, live in the post-Lady Gaga world. I mean, that girl changed things around some, for better or for worse. for better, really, what am I talking about. hear that noise? Ke$ha is puking with the sunrise. let that be a lesson to you. Christina and Lady Gaga have variously been accused of copying off each other. blah blah blah. I would consider Bionic something in a Gaga-esque vein, surely. does that mean she's copying her? I don't know. Christina has always been really, really weird. do you remember "Dirty?" my TV doesn't like to talk about it. it hurt its, well, let's cop a title here. "Woohoo." I am not sure what to make of that song...
and Aguilera does shift her identity a lot. her last album, Back to Basics, was a pumped-up retro affair. I enjoyed it, but I guess a lot of fans weren't having that.

okay I just turned "Bionic" on WHAT IS GOING ON ????? oh wow I like this. okay. can you believe she dueted with Ricky Martin? me neitherrrrr.

Sia and Le Tigre also have songs on this album. kudos to Christina! Sia's understandable- she's edgy, you know, but not too edgy - but Le Tigre is being brave. and my goodness Peaches! !!!

I understand Aguilera had to cancel some tour dates due to poor selling. which kind of sucks, because this album seems like it has the potential to be pretty awesome. actually, I'm getting excited!

fans: just love Christina already. I don't know if this is going to be her lasting identity, but we get bored easily. and we all still love Madonna's flaky ass.

SO DO YOU THINK
HER COMEBACK WILL SINK OR SWIM?

and remember:
"a diva is a female version of a hustla, of a hustla..."- B

p.s. I am in DC for the weekend. peace!

  1. hmm, sink or swim?
    probably swim slowly, very slowly.

PS: The photo reminds me of HR Giger without the darkness.

No Time to Fuck: The Goldfrapp Essay

Konnichiwa! This is Irina Cummings and I'm here to discuss one of the most brilliant, innovative, and creative artists in the entire history of mankind: Goldfrapp – or as I like to call them , GODfrapp – the fantastique, highly inspirational, and sometimes criminally overlooked electronic music duo from London consisting of Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory, whose godly music has certainly influenced the vast majority of today's synthpop ladies, including Lady Gaga, Little Boots, La Roux, Annie and Florence + the Machine (not electro but still worth your while). They're primarily known for their mind-blowing music (which have spanned pretty much every style of electronic music – and some non-electronic as well), their abstract, sexually ambiguous – at times forthright – lyrics which are often not gender- specific , and their elaborate shows, not to mention the amazing visual aesthetics of their work, conjuring images that masterly complement ...

Give JR a Break

Recently, I've been reading some sites that have criticized James Roday, the lead actor on the USA show PSYCH for an apparent weight gain. But you know what? Who gives a flying fizzle stick if James Roday is slightly larger than he was 4 years ago. Apparently, it wasn't enough to scare away his current girlfriend/ co-star Maggie Lawson. (Who is one hell of a Catch!) And NO they are not engaged. That seems to be nothing more than a rumor, but there is a very high chance of it happening in the near future. Anyway, as long as PSYCH continues to entertain I don't mind about James Roday's waist. He, and Dule Hill, and Corbin Bernson too, can eat all the fried broccoli they want. The last episode of PSYCH wasn't so smashing, but I don't blame it on dietary issues. QATFYG: Are you keeping up with Psych? And who is hotter, James Roday or Maggie Lawson? (Trick Question but idk why) PS: If you have heard any more news on Roday and Lawson becoming Roday-Lawson, send it...

Full Oscar Recap

For starters Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin were great hosts. I really liked their chemistry and humor, but I wondered how they would get through without a musical number.....then there is Neil Patrick Harris to save the day. So like I said, Miley and Taylor were out of line....and I really did not like how when Miley was up on stage with Amanda Seyfried and she says "We're nervous, it's our first time up here." OH come on, like you've never presented an award before, and you've also been to the Oscars.....Not to mention Amanda S. presented the special last year with R Patz about Romance movies. More Recap, Monique won as predicted. Christoph Waltz won as predicted. Jeff Bridges won as predicted. Sandra Bullock won as predicted. All of which were Great and Followed with Great Speeches. I love how Sandra said in the Baps interview that if Meryl Streep won, she's gonna "kick her ass." Also Christoph Waltz was so good. He was unbelievably good in ...
