Follow-up Stuart Newman interview!

So back in 2009, I interviewed up-and-coming singer-songwriter Stuart Newman. He was a musician nice enough to reach out to me when I was just starting, which is a fact I truly appreciate. There is something to be said for decent people in this world!

Anyway, I got back in touch with Stuart Newman and asked how he has been. How how has he been? Let's see:

UC:  How have things changed for you since we last spoke three years ago?
Stuart:  Well, I guess a lot has changed in 3 years. I’ve written more, recorded more and done bigger and better things, I think. I’ve recorded in the recording studio more and I now have far more video things than I did then. Everything has continued to improve. So yeah, huge changes, moving forward all the time.

UC:  What are you working on right now?
Stuart:  I can’t reveal specifically what I’m currently working on, but you can probably guess what it might be. Something new will hopefully be coming in the next few months and this, coupled with a few things associated with it, will provide more of an insight for my fans hopefully. All will become clear soon. Basically, expect new things for your ears and new things for your eyes.

UC:  What are the latest developments for you, musically?
Stuart:  Since we spoke 3 years ago, my writing has moved the way I knew it would – to a more textured more ‘rock’ place… my early stuff was much more acoustic and I’m currently making more Mellow-Rock music… So I’m pleased about that. More layers both sonically and lyrically. I’ve been writing more and have songs written. Creatively I’m very happy with where things are.

UC:  How do you feel 2012 has been so far for you?
Stuart:  2012 has seen me put out my Bored Of Idiot Chatter EP on download and on CD… that was a project that was a bit of a mountain… but I attacked it and won I think. So the first half of 2012 was that project… the latter parts of 2012 have seen me experimenting with video and coming up with some interesting results… late 2012 will see the ‘new thing’ I spoke about in my previous answers…

UC:  What can people expect from you next?
Stuart:  New music. New video things.  But it’s always difficult to be specific, because there are so many variables, people things and timing things. I’m always being creative and moving things forward… I also like that anyone coming new to my music can discover what I’ve done so far… that’s one of the reasons my music is currently on free download… if people like what I do, I don’t want them going away empty-handed - people can find out plenty about me if they like what they hear and there’s plenty of things to discover. I like artists like that, so that’s the kind of artist I try to be. I’ve always said that, good or bad, I want to be an artist that no one else could be – I still stand by that.

UC:  What's been the most momentous thing that has happened to you so far as a musician?
Stuart:  That’s a difficult one. I tend to answer questions like this in a way that talks about my creative ambitions and what’s to come… I feel, if I continue on the path I’m on, that those kinds of moments are ahead of me… so far having BBC radio airplay is obviously something to mention… and having fans from around the world in different countries is great… being the driving force behind everything – from writing the songs, recording the songs, managing the website, promoting, shooting and editing video, artwork… etc etc… all that put together is a pretty monumental undertaking… but it has to be done if I want what I want… but to pick out moments within that – that’s probably for others to do. My efforts go into improving all aspects of what I do. In the last 3 years there’s no doubt I’ve done that. People recognise quality, people recognise originality and people recognise genuine emotion and talent. My job is to deliver it.

Give JR a Break

Recently, I've been reading some sites that have criticized James Roday, the lead actor on the USA show PSYCH for an apparent weight gain. But you know what? Who gives a flying fizzle stick if James Roday is slightly larger than he was 4 years ago. Apparently, it wasn't enough to scare away his current girlfriend/ co-star Maggie Lawson. (Who is one hell of a Catch!) And NO they are not engaged. That seems to be nothing more than a rumor, but there is a very high chance of it happening in the near future. Anyway, as long as PSYCH continues to entertain I don't mind about James Roday's waist. He, and Dule Hill, and Corbin Bernson too, can eat all the fried broccoli they want. The last episode of PSYCH wasn't so smashing, but I don't blame it on dietary issues. QATFYG: Are you keeping up with Psych? And who is hotter, James Roday or Maggie Lawson? (Trick Question but idk why) PS: If you have heard any more news on Roday and Lawson becoming Roday-Lawson, send it...

No Time to Fuck: The Goldfrapp Essay

Konnichiwa! This is Irina Cummings and I'm here to discuss one of the most brilliant, innovative, and creative artists in the entire history of mankind: Goldfrapp – or as I like to call them , GODfrapp – the fantastique, highly inspirational, and sometimes criminally overlooked electronic music duo from London consisting of Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory, whose godly music has certainly influenced the vast majority of today's synthpop ladies, including Lady Gaga, Little Boots, La Roux, Annie and Florence + the Machine (not electro but still worth your while). They're primarily known for their mind-blowing music (which have spanned pretty much every style of electronic music – and some non-electronic as well), their abstract, sexually ambiguous – at times forthright – lyrics which are often not gender- specific , and their elaborate shows, not to mention the amazing visual aesthetics of their work, conjuring images that masterly complement ...

Spotlight/Shoutout: OG Mudbone (One Year of S/S)

!!!ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!! Can you believe it's been a year already since Spotlight/Shoutout started off on the third Thursday of August? The first ever s/s went to Kyle MacLachlan, and then the spotlight was stolen by OG Mudbone...........the funniest man on earth according to some Youtube videos. For those of you who do not know, OG is an FOC "Freak of Co*k" adult film actor. And yes, I censored the C word, just in case the word cock offends anyone. OG Mudbone takes the 1 year prize because he's enormous (and he shoots and scores), and it doesn't matter if his adult entertainment masterworks are real or fake. His foul mouth is more exciting than many. Seriously, get some google images. height="385"> In other news, Spotlight/Shoutout has had some great ups this year. I hope there are many more to come, and indeed there will be. QATFYG: If anyone has seen his films, can you still drink soymilk? I can't! Happy 1 year!! s/s
