On the Shelves TODAY!!!!!!!!!!

So recently I stated I was excited on Dan Brown's latest novel, but that level of joy does not compare to what's on shelves now.....
"American on Purpose: The Improbable Adventure of an Unlikely Patriot." by Craig Ferguson. That's right, Craig Flippin' Ferguson aka the Late Late Host, everybody's 2nd favorite Scottish-American.

Craig F is hailed by many as the best late night host on TV these days, and yes some people say he's even better than Leno, Conan, Letterman, and even Carson Daly (The last one was a joke.)

But all chestnuts aside, Craig is hilarious, and I will definitely read his new book on an afternoon at Books A Million, probably next weekend. Tough times, word up.

QATFYG: Are you a Craig Ferguson fan? Who is your favorite Scottish-American? And who is the best late night talk show host?

Comments

  1. I am not a Craig Ferguson fan. I just am not, but I have nothing against the person. So, Nader Bouberhan, if that's your real name you have not posted in a long time.? Why Craig Ferugson? Are you a fan of late night shows? Is that why you posted this. I think this will just be another one of those tv show host books. It seems every tv show host has a book.

  2. yes indeed Anon, this is possibly just another tv host book. Jon Stewart has one. Stephen C has one, but I think Craig is funnier than those blokes. And he is better with monologues than the other hosts out there, which is my fav part of late night tv.

And why does everyone think NB isn't my real name?

  3. While I will Stewart, Colbert, or Conan any day, I think Letterman is the "best" at the late night gig, mostly because of his biting wit, his lack of fear of being an asshole, and being the quickest at responding to something unexpected.

  4. Jonathan has something good to say.

Wow, I haven't seen Letterman in years actually. But I do watch Conan sometimes. And I USED to watch Colbert and Stewart....which brings me to the next question.

Who is better Jon Stewart or Steve Colbert?

PS: Did anybody see the Daily show when Craig Kilborn was hosting?

  5. I think Craig Ferguson is great at interviews and he's pretty much the only late night host that doesn't annoy me. So. I like him!

I like Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert about the same. Don't watch either show though.

I don't have a favorite Scottish-American (except, y'know, myself), but my favorite Scottish person is Shirley Manson. I will marry that woman one day.

  6. Good stuff,
For a fav Scottish-American I could say Alicia Silverstone (she's scots-yiddish according to Wikiepdia. how sexy is that?)

  7. To me, it isn't a question. I'll take Stewart over Colbert any day.

Colbert gets his points across with satire - which I absolutely love - and his interviews are filled with hilarious interruptions - but Colbert is a still Bill O'Reilly inspired character (this is no different than how Sasha Baron Coen interviews people when he is in character), whereas Stewart is Stewart. Colbert may be more laugh-out-loud funny, but...

I love more the straight interviewing approach and Stewart's most shining moments on The Daily Show are the times his outrage overtake him and he's gotten deadly serious and even downright fierce during his interviews.

Plus, without Stewart, there would no Colbert. There would be no Keith Olbermann either, for chrissakes!

The fact that either of these comedy news shows hold as much power as they do is incredible though. Simply incredible.

p.s. I watched The Daily Show back in the Kilborn days. I was pretty damn young though and don't think I understood most of the political humor, so I'm not sure if it was any good or not, but I still watched it.

p.p.s. Another reason why Stewart trumps all: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11TaDDUVcGQ

Give JR a Break

Recently, I've been reading some sites that have criticized James Roday, the lead actor on the USA show PSYCH for an apparent weight gain. But you know what? Who gives a flying fizzle stick if James Roday is slightly larger than he was 4 years ago. Apparently, it wasn't enough to scare away his current girlfriend/ co-star Maggie Lawson. (Who is one hell of a Catch!) And NO they are not engaged. That seems to be nothing more than a rumor, but there is a very high chance of it happening in the near future. Anyway, as long as PSYCH continues to entertain I don't mind about James Roday's waist. He, and Dule Hill, and Corbin Bernson too, can eat all the fried broccoli they want. The last episode of PSYCH wasn't so smashing, but I don't blame it on dietary issues. QATFYG: Are you keeping up with Psych? And who is hotter, James Roday or Maggie Lawson? (Trick Question but idk why) PS: If you have heard any more news on Roday and Lawson becoming Roday-Lawson, send it...

No Time to Fuck: The Goldfrapp Essay

Konnichiwa! This is Irina Cummings and I'm here to discuss one of the most brilliant, innovative, and creative artists in the entire history of mankind: Goldfrapp – or as I like to call them , GODfrapp – the fantastique, highly inspirational, and sometimes criminally overlooked electronic music duo from London consisting of Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory, whose godly music has certainly influenced the vast majority of today's synthpop ladies, including Lady Gaga, Little Boots, La Roux, Annie and Florence + the Machine (not electro but still worth your while). They're primarily known for their mind-blowing music (which have spanned pretty much every style of electronic music – and some non-electronic as well), their abstract, sexually ambiguous – at times forthright – lyrics which are often not gender- specific , and their elaborate shows, not to mention the amazing visual aesthetics of their work, conjuring images that masterly complement ...

Spotlight/Shoutout: OG Mudbone (One Year of S/S)

!!!ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!! Can you believe it's been a year already since Spotlight/Shoutout started off on the third Thursday of August? The first ever s/s went to Kyle MacLachlan, and then the spotlight was stolen by OG Mudbone...........the funniest man on earth according to some Youtube videos. For those of you who do not know, OG is an FOC "Freak of Co*k" adult film actor. And yes, I censored the C word, just in case the word cock offends anyone. OG Mudbone takes the 1 year prize because he's enormous (and he shoots and scores), and it doesn't matter if his adult entertainment masterworks are real or fake. His foul mouth is more exciting than many. Seriously, get some google images. height="385"> In other news, Spotlight/Shoutout has had some great ups this year. I hope there are many more to come, and indeed there will be. QATFYG: If anyone has seen his films, can you still drink soymilk? I can't! Happy 1 year!! s/s
