Can you believe Wednesday is here again? The days are flying by, and this week's spotlight/ shoutout goes to none other than Judd Hirsch.
Born in 1935, this man has conquered many feats and challenges in the entertainment world, and I could write a book on his achievements.
So I’ll only spot three of his many achievements.
I first saw him in the 1983 pic, where he played the psychologist to a disturbed Timothy Hutton, in the Oscar-winning film “Ordinary People.” It’s good stuff. I remember being really impressed with his ability to make you believe he was the real deal. It didn't feel like acting. It made me wish, "Damn, I'd like a shrink like that."
Nowadays the Judd is the father to Rob Morrow and David Krumholtz on the Friday CBS Drama, NUMB3RS. I used to be a big fan of this show, but really it’s just too lighthearted. It takes a lot of the punch out of crime drama. But on the bright side it stars great actors like the Judd. And Peter MacNicol, who is DA BOMB!! (Everytime I mention Peter MacNicol, I try to refer to him as DA BOMB!!) I don’t even know if he’s still on the show though.
But the overall reason why Judd Hirsch is today’s Spotlighter, is because I have declared him the “MOST JEWISH MAN ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” [Even more than Matisyahu!] So cool, and for the Judd I have respect.

Naturally, he was the host/narrator of “Heroes of Jewish Comedy.” Judd Hirsch encompasses many Jewish/Judeo/Yiddish characteristics into his personality. I love watching him work.
And he played Alex on TAXI!
QATFYG: Do you watch NUMB3RS? Who do you think is the most Jewish man alive? And can you speak Yiddish? I know I pretend I can.
GAWD, I fucking loved him Independence Day! Seriously. I really love that fucking terrible movie. And he is the main reason why.
ReplyDelete'Now get up off that floor before you catch a cold...'
HE IS THE REASON THE WORLD WASN'T DESTROYED BY ALIENS.
YES, I love independence day. It was the coolest film around when I was in 4th grade. My friends and I used to cheer for Will Smith like crazy.
ReplyDeleteAw Snap, I also should mention that the Judd's most recent film project is the movie "Polish Bar" cowritten and directed by Ben Burkowitz.
ReplyDeleteHere is the summary.
It's about a fed up Jewish boy who "looks for respect by trying to prove himself as a Hip Hop DJ and working for Polish gangsters at the local strip club. In a world of sex, cocaine and violence, he encounters Ebony, a troubled young girl who clashes with Reuben's tough guy front."

Also stars Richard Belzer and Meatloaf!!!
Hah! I was just looking at his wikipedia article last night. Nice. And he was great on Taxi. Why isn't it on TV anymore?
ReplyDeleteI stopped watching Numb3rs after the first season, because let's face facts here, math can't solve EVERYTHING. And I prefer my light-hearted crime shows to be like... Bones, or Criminal Minds.
The most Jewish man alive is my father. He's just about as Jewish as you can get, minus the yarmulke & the fact that he forgot to celebrate Hanukkah last year. BUT he speaks Yiddish and Hebrew, so it's all good.
Yay Yiddish speakers!!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen criminal minds, but I want to. I feel the main difference with Numb3rs and a show like bones is...numbers has way more family dynamic. Brother-father-brother. That just gets sappy At least Bones creates drama between partners/ friends. (And relationships of course.)
However, I think I'll give Numb3rs another chance. It has some good episodes.
Criminal Minds is quite good... although the first season isn't all that great. Interestingly, my hometown is the location of one of the episodes in the first season. (The episode kept showing hills--and I'm from the midwest. We don't have hills! jeez.)
ReplyDeleteEh, maybe Numb3rs improved in later seasons... always possible...
Um, I wouldn't say Numbers has improved in the later seasons. My favs were from season 1. but some of the later stuff is of equal quality.
ReplyDeleteIt's not better, it's just on par. If that makes sense.
