Is anyone else a Filter fan; can I get a show hands?

So just for fun,

who is a fan of the band "Filter" who put out radio hits such as

"Take my Picture."

"Where do we go from here?"

and "Hey Man, Nice Shot."

and much more of course.

So speak your minds on the band.

QATFYG:
Do you like other bands of this genre?

Where do we go from here?

  1. "Hey Man, Nice Shot," "Jurassitol," and their cover of "One" were all great.

  2. good stuff,

on my radio stations down here in West Virginia "Hey Man, Nice Shot" got crazy radio play during the 2000's.
I heard the song was about Bud Dwyer's televised suicide, and after watching the video of it, it makes the song feel so alive (ironically for Bud.)

  3. That's messed up. First I've heard about it, and I just read the whole Dwyer thing. I choose to believe he was innocent just for the romanticism of it.

  4. well, the truth is probably in the grave.
    :(
hey man, nice shot was on the short bus album, which is great stuff.
But once they put out the Amalgamut, it was one of the first times I really the more polished sound from a band,

  6. I've owned a number of copies of Short Bus over the years and I always remembered it as a good album. I played it again a few weeks ago and the lyrics were sort of embarassing on some songs. I've only heard Title of Record and The Amalgamut a few times but the sound is very different. Though I'll admit I was into "Take My Picture" when it came out

  7. "Take my picture" is a really good song, but it is much lighter than the Filter that I normally like it.

What are some of the examples of embarrassing lyrics ....oh do continue :)

  8. This particular rhyme scheme from "Dose" stands out.

I hate it when you preach your case / It makes me wanna stick my dick in your face

  9. intriguing,

i both smiled and giggled at that line.

    i am so immature sometimes.

hears the words dick in the face = giggle giggle.

  10. I like Filter. Did you take journalism ethics with Wilson Al? he was obsessed with that Bud Dwyer thang. wish I could have known you, Bud!

"Take a Picture" is a great song. what is/are Filter doing anymore? and did they form from NIN or Tool? I always forget.

  11. Richard Patrick was in NIN as a touring guitarist, I believe. And someone else was in Stabbing Westward. I think I read that one of the riffs from, "Hey Man, Nice Shot," maybe, was originally from a SW song.

An interesting fact: Richard Patrick's brother, Robert Patrick, played the T-1000 in Terminator 2 and was the B-list replacement for David Duchovny after he left the X-Files.

  12. yes,
you mean Agent Dogget ( i am spelling that wrong.)

I do feel bad for Robert Patrick, because he is still mainly known for playing the T-1000. He just hasn't made a role that was bigger than that one so long ago.

    @Britt,
Listening to that dingdong idiot Wilson talk about Bud Dwyer almost ruined the filter song for me. Wilson and I are not on the same page in the info pamphlet that is life.

"Mon Soleil" - Ashley Park

If there's anything people take away from my piss-poor legacy, I hope it's what a huge, unabashed fan of "Emily in Paris" I am and will continue to be. People love "90 Day Fiancee," "The Bachelor," and other garbage - allow me "Emily," which is at least harmless, kind of goofy fluff (which does, unfortunately, lean into some stereotypes, as the country of Ukraine knows ). I have already watched Season 2 twice. And honestly my favorite part of this show (despite my crush on Camille Razart and Lily Collins channeling Audrey Hepburn hardcore ) is Ashley Park. This woman has superstar written all over her. She's a bona fide Broadway star, and "Emily in Paris" has served as her pivot into the zeitgeist.  "Emily in Paris" is also showcasing her vocal prowess front and center this season, with her covering BTS, "All By Myself," "Sympathtique," and Marilyn Monroe. But the real standout performance is th

Appropriate Holiday Gift Ideas for the Single Lady

While some people may see it as a drag, there are plenty of benefits to being single during the holiday season. During this time of the year, there are tons of parties you can attend that you may not have had the opportunity to if you were in a relationship. There’s also not as much stress on you as a single gal during the holidays because you don’t have to shop for your partner and extended family members  or  stress over where to eat Christmas dinner.  Not everyone sees the bright side of being fancy free during the holidays, and, tragically, they aren't afraid to let us single ladies know. Not only are single women subjected to even more harassment and ridicule during the holiday season, they’re also given the most obnoxious gifts by those who can’t comprehend how anyone can be both happy and single. Whether it’s a self-help book (desperately) trying to reinforce how great is to be single or the gift of a year-long subscription to Match.com , single women are presented with

Give JR a Break

Recently, I've been reading some sites that have criticized James Roday, the lead actor on the USA show PSYCH for an apparent weight gain. But you know what? Who gives a flying fizzle stick if James Roday is slightly larger than he was 4 years ago. Apparently, it wasn't enough to scare away his current girlfriend/ co-star Maggie Lawson. (Who is one hell of a Catch!) And NO they are not engaged. That seems to be nothing more than a rumor, but there is a very high chance of it happening in the near future. Anyway, as long as PSYCH continues to entertain I don't mind about James Roday's waist. He, and Dule Hill, and Corbin Bernson too, can eat all the fried broccoli they want. The last episode of PSYCH wasn't so smashing, but I don't blame it on dietary issues. QATFYG: Are you keeping up with Psych? And who is hotter, James Roday or Maggie Lawson? (Trick Question but idk why) PS: If you have heard any more news on Roday and Lawson becoming Roday-Lawson, send it
