Spotlight/Shoutout: Michael Ian Black (Another 'Bout Time)

Image
Guess what? It’s Wednesday in certain parts of the world, and another vivacious vixen is victoriously claiming the validated and verified S/S. I know I said vixen, and Michael Ian Black is a man, but I needed a V word. I can’t believe how long it’s been, and I have not yet written about Michael Ian Black. Years and Years ago, I wrote one of my first posts ever commemorating his comrade, David Wain, for their work in Stella and Wain’s seldom appearances as a lone rogue stand up comedian. As I always say, I am not one to pick favorites, but if there was only one comedy album, I’d take with me in the afteruniverse, it would be “I am a Wonderful Man.” What I love about Michael Ian Black is his ability to find comedy and laughter by using the smallest most minimal ideas of humor. Comedy with the smallest amount of effort. This example should reveal it all. Then, he’ll randomly burst out with “and then I came all over her tits!” I don’t know how he does it, but the timing is brilliant. De p...

I'm going to skip ahead a lotttttttt to when I was at the airport with Al. And Al was standing in front of me and it was the first time I'd seen him in days/weeks/months. now, we were flying away on 9/11 and the airport was DEAD. vacant. like a zombie movie. seriously- there was no one around .  I wonder why! "Hi," I said to Al, ready to embark on the next 11 days in his company. "Yo." From there, Al had some random problem with his carryon I forget. then we went to like some overglitzed airport version of an Applebee's and had a beer together before flying. I tried to get internet and failed. c'est la vie. how did I function? on the actual flight to New York City, we flew basically in a tissue box that had somehow taken wings to flight. it was such a broke ass Erie-like flight they didn't offer us even newspapers on it. and it was very hot and bright, but we were in JFK in like an hour or so. once at JFK, the crowds were s...

The People of Afghanistan: www.Afghan-web.com

In the wake and dawn of September 12th, the world seems rather similar compared to yesterday. However, across the world in Afghanistan, the daily life is tattered, beaten up, beaten down, turmoil-filled, and under pressures on both sides of the lines. In 2011 we still hear the echoes of the battle cry from 2001. The United States has soldiers abroad risking their lives every day because of what happened on September 11th. But where is this all going for the people of Afghanistan? The people in the slums of Kabul or in smaller towns that had no part in the mechanics of the Taliban government? I first visited Afghan-Web.com in 2001, and like many, I had no real understanding of Afghanistan. If you’ll have a question regarding the life in Afghanistan, visit this website. They cover everything from not only Military and Government Issues to Culture and Cooking Recipes, As well as History, Plant Life, even the native Dog Breeds of Afghanistan. Moreover, it is a portal into many other onlin...

September 11th, 2011

Hello Sunday Morning. It’s September 11th, 2011. It’s hard to believe, but it’s been ten short years since the entire nation was brought to a standstill. When I was in school, and I first heard that terrorists had crashed planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, we thought people were not serious. It didn’t even seem conceivable. One look at any television station, and it was clear that what we heard was the whole truth and nothing but the truth. So many things have changed in the world in these last ten years, but the September 11th is something that will never be forgotten. Today is a day of memorial. QATFYG: Will you be one of the many that will light a candle today in honor and memory of those fallen? And will you also be one of the many that will light a candle in the name of hope?
