The Knife to release new album in 2013

Image
The wait is finally over, my friends. Enigmatic and totally awesome Swedish electronic music duo The Knife (siblings Karin Dreijer Andersson and Olof Dreijer) announced this week that their next album, titled Shaking the Habitual , will be released on April 8, 2013. It's been six years since the critically lauded and highly influential Silent Shout , and almost four years since Karin's equally haunting solo album under the pseudonym Fever Ray. Sure, they collabored with Mt. Sims and Planningtorock (aka the poor man's Fever Ray) to release the Darwin-inspired electro-opera Tomorrow, In a Year in 2010, but it's far from a proper follow-up. Additionally, the duo will tour Europe next year on yet-to-be-announced dates. Earlier this week, the duo posted a typically mysterious teaser trailer for the album, which contains the following description: "Music can be so meaningless. We had to find lust. We asked our friends and lovers to help us." I loved dem sho...

My Late Night Golden Globes Rodeo

Jack? Warning:  I have been building up some bitchiness and here, I unleash it on "Argo," "Lincoln" and "The Life of Pi." Hi all. I've been in a creative slump lately, so forgive me for my silence. I may have broken my brain. However, the Golden Globes have become my favorite awards show over the years....so I can't NOT post about them. Plus, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are hosting them in 2013. That must be in the Bible, somewhere. So here are the nominations that just came out and my profound, half-awake thoughts on them: - I like how "The Dark Knight" was snubbed from nearly everything. I read this might have something to do with the Aurora shooting. That's horrible, but could be the case. - I like how Anne Hathaway is still existing. You go girl! - Who gives a shit about "Argo?" Or "Lincoln?" Why are you people all acting like "Lincoln" is groundbreaking WE ALL KNOW HOW IT ENDS - Who is ...

2 Broke Girls recap: And the Big Opening

Oh, t hat's right : two all-new, back-to-back episodes of 2 Broke Girls !! This means twice the work for me, but hey, I like it, and I hope you do, too. Max and Earl are playing "Marry, Sleep With, or Kill: Diner Edition." Caroline comes in and Max tells her to join them. At first Caroline says she'd kill herself if she slept with anyone in the diner, but then she comes around and says she'd sleep with Earl and marry Max. "Not us! Jeez. What are you, a freak?" Max says. "You said it was just a game!" Caroline says. "I'm not in love with you, back off!" Max taunts as she walks away. Caroline is excited that the RSVP list for the grand opening of Max's Homemade Cupcakes is at capacity. "We might even be overbooked, because in my experience, even when guys say they're not gonna come, they do," Max says. Not surprisingly, I do know what she means. Han comes in telling Caroline that booth two has been waiting for se...

Dexter Recap: All I Want For Christmas Is Reindeer Dicks Edition

Ep isode 11: Do You See What I See? Don’t you love the word “penultimate?” It’s one of my favorites. Usually in TV series, everything happens in the penultimate episode, leaving the finale to deal with the recovery. Except with True Blood . There is always a Bilith-esque cliffhanger on that show. In this installment of the show I hate to love and love to hate, it’s Christmas! Also, Dexter realizes that, even 7 seasons in the can, he can still be outwitted.
